The Veteran’s Services Director, Aloysius “Ali” Nelson, has resigned his position with the County last Sunday. He did so “under duress,” according to a resignation letter tendered by his attorney and obtained by KCE. Shortly after an incident at Silver Lake Park, located at 27000 85th St in Salem Lakes that occurred on July 18, 2023, Nelson retained the President of the Wisconsin ACLU to be his lawyer. In the resignation letter sent to the county by Attorney William F. Sulton, Sulton says:

“I am writing concerning the meeting held on August 11, 2023, and to tender the resignation of Aloysius “Ali” Nelson. As the county knows, this resignation is made under duress. By resigning, Mr. Nelson does not waive any claims or causes of action against the county, without limitation to wrongful termination, discrimination, and due process. Mr. Nelson resigns solely to mitigate the
anticipated damages and other losses caused by the county.”

The incident from July 18, 2023 was documented by a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputy and captured on video. According to the report:

The homeless veteran suffering from PTSD named “Pete” told the Deputy he has been living at Silver Lake Park. Pete said that he was in the park, under some shade and watching movies in his sleeping bag when “two male blacks” pulled his sleeping bag off of him. He said that the one man was harassing him and threatened to throw his belongings away. This man was later identified as Ali Nelson. In the video, Nelson takes off his id badge and seemingly charges Pete at least twice, in an attempt to fight him. Nelson’s co-worker had to restrain Nelson. Nelson and Pete are also both heard using profanity.

Pete then showed the Deputy the video of the altercation. KCE reached out to Nelson’s attorney who told us they have “no comment.” KCE contacted the County Executive’s Office, and exec Samantha Kerkman issued the following statement:

“Veterans Services Director Ali Nelson submitted his letter of resignation on Sunday, after having been on administrative leave since July 19th. Services to veterans in the community will continue uninterrupted, with the office under the oversight of Assistant Director Jennifer Blasi.”

    1. They were. Most of the issues started with the “new” HR Director, Clara. People just weren’t watching. She was a Kreuser appointee. Few to no issues prior to her appointment.

    2. As a matter of fact, Kreuser was the exec when the board started figuring out that she was ineffective. They started questioning her about turnover and the lack of exit interviews, and she was supposed to report back with what she did to fix the issues… but they never followed back up. So, she continues to do nothing, turnover is higher than ever and overall employee satisfaction & morale is at an all time low.

        1. That’s the issue we’re having, now. Kerkman refuses to actually acknowledge the problem directors as problems.

  1. So far I’ve witnessed disorderly conduct by an appointed county employee. A racist one at that.

  2. So why can he call that guy “boy” and it’s OK? Wonder if it would have been OK if it were the other way around HMMMM

    10
    1. It was the other way around. The homeless Vet called him the N word and then started recording. Perfect bait and switch.

      4
      5
      1. Sure it was. Just to fit your narrative. What about all the other BS that starts recording after an incident? You idiots don’t wanna see that if it is against your fake news.

        1. And you want to deny a white person calling a black person the N word. Who would start recording and then show how dumb they are? It was a bait and switch. It is known that Kerkman didn’t like Ali. She was hunting for him. The homeless guy is suing three Deputies and the county sends non-law enforcement? The homeless guy has been living in Silver Park for a year and a half.

          1
          3
          1. Jeez. Like I said your agenda isn’t working here and just the ole bait and switch. So why don’t you believe any other stories that are recorded after incident? Because it flaws your bias agenda? Yep

      2. So a mentally ill Veteran calls you a name, and rather than leave to let the police sort it out, you try to attack him not once but twice?!
It is well known that Ali was an absentee landlord in his office and he treated his coworkers like shit. The only thing Kerman did was hold him accountable for his actions, this was the final straw in a list of improprieties that he had been facilitating. Ask throughout the Veteran community Ali was out for Ali and did not care who he stepped on.

      3. Prove it. Cmon Andy. Wanna keep saying the side you want to believe. The video starts when Ali rips the guys sleeping bag away. Show your proof! Ya know. That’s what you always say! Show ur proof

  3. The aggressive colored clown is a typical gov employee. Power trip with a badge. He should be killed and forgotten. The vet should have killed someone that needed killing not like in the Sand Wars and that was the colored asshole.

    5

    1. Just another racist coward asking for someone to be killed. Who are you to determine who gets to live or die? Besides being a racist coward what else do you do besides promote racism and killing? You need help

  4. This incident happened on or around July 17th. The same homeless Veteran is still living in the Silver Lake Park. How has he not been dealt with yet?

    2
    1
    1. They need to get this guy out of the park. He’s been having conflicts with people constantly since then. You can’t have one person holding the park hostage. He needs to be in a program for veterans before something crazy happens

  5. Right or wrong. We all make mistakes and just as we see in military aviation, the swiss cheese effect can cause a small incident to turn more turbulent- There was a lot of pride slinging between the two of them. The only one who had any sense was the guy in the middle of it all. We are so quick to bring in race, gender, or religion as the culprit but if we see ourselves as just people in common, we would have more grace and patience for each other and scenarios like this wouldn’t happen.

  6. On the topic of Kenosha County and management issues…and I know UW Parkside is not run by the County but how about this:

Looks like as with many things they are running short on money……

But also interesting is this—wonder if it’s time to cash in on some of the acreage.
    REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MIXED-USE …
    University of Wisconsin System
May 1, 2023 — DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY. The University of Wisconsin-Parkside (the “University” or “UW-P”) is soliciting qualifications and information.

  7. Ali behavior doesn’t Suprise me. It’s funny that he takes his county name tag off to fight, does that mean it’s okay LOL I started working with him in 2018. he likes to be the big shot. He likes to treat people as they are beneath him. I had many veterans complain about how they were treated, and they were even black. In the veteran community he was into stuff he had no business doing just like this park. He’s not an outreach professional. there are organizations who are trained for this, and he has the ability to reach out for them but chose to be big bad as “I am a county employee” who cares. That office will be better with him gone and the Veteran community will be better with him gone.

    1

  8. Well obviously your reporting isn’t accurate. Berg on his page says he did his own investigation. So he obviously knows all the facts and is just the best investigation officer. He’s so good at being a liberal
