Ron Redlin, the newly appointed Fire Chief in Twin Lakes, praised two-time convicted felon and arsonist, 36-year-old Glen A. Tietz, Jr. In a statement to KCE, Chief Redlin said that Tietz is trustworthy, dependable and volunteers countless hours weekly to help the department and community. According to its website, Tietz is not only a firefighter for the Village of Twin Lakes, he is also a fire commission member, along with his father, Glen Tietz, Sr. who is a Captain for the department. In Twin Lakes, they are referred to as “trustees.” As a trustee, both Teitzs helped select Redlin as the new Chief.
Arson and Felony Criminal Damage to Property In Rock County
Tietz admitted to arson of a building and felony criminal damage to property that he committed in the late evening of September 23, 2011 into the morning hours of September 24, 2011. Since he gave a full confession and cooperated with police, the Rock County DA dismissed the arson charges and Tietz pled guilty to the felony of criminal damage to property. According to the criminal complaint and police reports, Tietz was a disgruntled employee of a business that had a location in Salem and Clinton. Tietz burned a storage structure to the ground and caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to the building and several valuable pieces of heavy equipment. Tietz also admitted to spray-painting, or “tagging” vehicles and buildings. The words “wetback” and “nig***” were painted on the property. He also painted penises, swastikas, the term “420,” “FUCK U” and more. Tietz also admitted to driving vehicles into the pond on the property. Tietz admitted to be out drinking just before the incident. Tietz got nine months of work-release and three years of probation.
Burglary and Felony Criminal Damage to Property In Salem
Tietz admitted to burglary of a dwelling and felony criminal damage to property that he committed in the late evening of March 31, 2012, about six months after the arson in Rock County. Since he gave a full confession and cooperated with police, the Kenosha County DA dismissed the burglary charge and Tietz pled guilty to the felony of criminal damage to property. An ultra-liberal judge, the late Michael Wilk, gave Tietz only three years of probation. According to the criminal complaint and police reports, Tietz admitted to drinking before he went to his place of employment, this time, in Salem. He told police he wasn’t happy with the way his employer treated him. He admitted to burglarizing a building and taking heavy equipment from the building and driving them into the pond here. He also ran over expensive plants. The damage was more that $12,500.

As Chief Redlin points out, a convicted felon, like Teitz, isn’t technically barred from being a firefighter. Tietz, as a fire commission member, was one of the trustees who denied KCE’s request for the documents alleging that the former fire chief, Stan Clause, allegedly sexually harassed an employee, Hannah Felipez and asked her to have a threesome with him and his step daughter. He, along with the other trustees approved the hiring of an expensive law firm to conceal these documents.

The late Judge Wilk, a Republican, was not “ultra liberal” but he could be all over the boards — sometimes sending a lot of people to prison, sometimes not.
His son was aligned with the Dems but he was appointed by Gov. Walker to a judgeship, perhaps because of his wife’s ties to Walker.
In fact, Judge Schroeder was one of the most lenient sentencing judges in the courthouse. If he scolded a defendant, as he often did, then the sentence would usually be pretty light, often undercutting prosecutor recommendations. Defendants didn’t like Schroeder because he could go either way but lawyers knew that the more he barked the less the bite.

KCE is correct that Tietz got three years probation in what the court minutes suggests was a coordinated disposition. Three years is the max term for probation in a class I felony: http://www.badgerlawyer.com/criminal-law/crime-sentencing.php. Both judges gave Tietz the maximum term of probation that they could. The difference is that Rock County imposed and stayed a sentence while Kenosha withheld it meaning that if Tietz screwed up on probation it could come back and impose a consecutive sentence. Tietz also paid full restitution up front which is unusual.
Having said all of this, KCE is spot on: What’s with fire departments in western Kenosha county having cozy relationships with fire setters??? I was able to pull up this information with a one-minute online search. They have internet service in Twin Lakes and Salem, don’t they???
Just charging them with whatever crimes they committed and let the judge decide how to be lenient.
I’ll admit that getting a confession takes dealing but if they have good evidence why bother ?
Just go to trial and convict them of everything.
Some will say that that cost extra dollars for the county but if we sent these criminals to jail for everything they do then maybe others will see that as a deterrent. Deterrent is what jail is all about, isn’t it ? And less crime means less cost. For both the victims and society.
Besides, if he was in jail for the first offense he wouldn’t have been out (or employed) to do the second offense. Just saying

He paid for his mistakes legally. He has proven his change and maturity. For anyone that knows this man, knows he messed up but made MISTAKES! Which is something we are forgiven for, as Jesus died on the cross to FORGIVE US OUR SINS!

So, I guy rapes a child, is convicted, does his time and is put on the rapist registry for life. Then he goes and gets a job at a daycare. Your’e ok with that? Some things have consequences for your actions. If he had anger issues with his employer and got help with anger management, GREAT. If he “did his time” with probation, GREAT. That doesn’t mean he still doesn’t have consequences for his actions in the future. One thing I believe he SHOULDN’T be allowed to do is work as a firefighter or in the field. Just as much as I don’t think a man who raped a child should work at a daycare! I also don’t think a person who robbed a bank should be allowed to work at a place that handles money, or a person who poisoned food while being a cook at a restaurant should ever be allowed to have a job making food. People can be forgiven, serve their time, move on with their lives, but there are consequences for your actions.

His daddy is the captain of the Dept. which explains why Jr. gets to fail upwards. There’s a reason convicted felons have a difficult time finding work. They shouldn’t be allowed to serve the public under any capacity unless it’s picking up trash on the side of the road. His second and third chance should come from the private sector not public. There many people that go about life the right way and deserve the opportunities over convicted felons.

Shortfall? Do you really know what the referendum is for? It’s not for a shortfall it’s to add full time career firefighter/EMT’s to a department thats been served by volunteers since it’s inception nearly 100 years ago. Do your own homework before you spew misinformation.
