Buona Beef and Rainbow Cone Opening Next Week In Pleasant Prairie – Free Ice Cream For First 50 Guests

Today, the Buona Companies announced the upcoming opening of a dual-branded concept in Pleasant Prairie. Marking a historic moment for the company as it enters Wisconsin for the first time, a grand opening celebration will be held on Monday, February 26.

The Buona Companies is made up of Buona, the largest family-owned Italian beef restaurant group and beef producer in the country, and The Original Rainbow Cone Ice Cream Shop (Rainbow Cone), the home of the iconic five-flavor cone. Situated at 7523 115th Avenue, just East of Interstate 94 along Highway 50 along the busy commercial corridor, the new location joins the family as the 29th location to open throughout Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.

As part of the grand opening festivities, the first 50 guests in line will receive a free Rainbow Cone. The grand opening will begin with a ribbon cutting at 10 am followed by the doors officially opening at 10:30 am.

With a team of local employees and management, the Pleasant Prairie location is owned by the multi-generational Buonavolanto family. Founded by Joe and Peggy Buonavolanto in 1981, the family’s commitment to preserving the authentic recipe for Italian beef spans generations. Their five sons and multiple grandchildren are actively involved in the ongoing expansion and success of Buona Companies.

  1. We tried it last night! Kenosha has been missing a really good Italian Beef since Hungry Head, Macs & Shirl’s closed. Ruffolo’s Special Pizza 2 & DeRango’s do have great ones as well, but sometimes we don’t have 45 minutes to wait on food. I definitely recommend giving this place a shot! The burger and Ravioli the kids got were really good too. Great service, no complaints! Hopefully the standard they have set with my family stick for years to come.

  2. I read this and thought, “WTF?” But it’s mostly correct though out of context. The catering end of the family’s business scored a $45 million contract with the City of Chicago (not the State of Illinois or Gov. Pritzker) to provide meals at city migrant shelters. Another vendor got a larger contract. The cost is $6 per person per day LESS than the city was paying on its own. Saving taxpayer money and providing private sector jobs works for me.

    I tried Buona’s Italian beef and thought it was pretty good. Now if we can only get Portillo’s here!

  3. We tried it on the 50% off soft opening night. I wasn’t impressed. It would have been close to 40.00 for one adult and child for dinner, with ice cream. The ice cream was great. I think that part of the store will be very busy, as there are no other options for ice cream/custard along that stretch.
    The hot beef was dry, and very spicy, which it should have been with sweet peppers and cheese. I can make a better hot beef at home
