Kenosha, WI – The Kenosha Police Department has confirmed that reports of an active shooter at Bradford High School on Monday were the result of a “swatting” hoax, with no credible threat to students, staff, or the public.
Authorities responded swiftly to the emergency call, conducting a thorough sweep of the school to ensure everyone’s safety. Following the investigation, police verified that the initial reports of gunfire were false.
“The Kenosha Police Department would like to inform our community that the recent report of shots being fired inside Bradford High School has been thoroughly investigated and confirmed to be a ‘swatting’ hoax,” Kenosha Police Lieutenant Josh Hecker said in a statement. “We take these incidents seriously and are working closely with other agencies to hold those responsible accountable.”
The Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) echoed the police department’s findings, reassuring parents, students, and staff that normal school operations resumed after the false alarm.
“Our students and staff have returned to business as usual. All after-school events will be held as planned. However, Bradford High School has counselors available for students who may need support,” KUSD officials stated.
Both the police and school district expressed gratitude to students, parents, and staff for their cooperation during the unsettling situation. They also emphasized the seriousness of swatting incidents, which create unnecessary panic and divert law enforcement resources from real emergencies.
“This type of hoax is not acceptable. All threats, whether real or false, will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated for the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” the school district’s statement read.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the false report to contact the Kenosha Police Department at 262-656-1234.
What is Swatting?
Swatting is a dangerous prank in which false reports of violent crimes or emergencies are made to trigger an armed police response. These hoaxes not only endanger lives but also strain emergency resources. Law enforcement agencies across the country are working to track and prosecute those responsible for such false reports.
The Kenosha Police Department continues to investigate this incident and remains committed to ensuring the safety of all students and staff in the community.

Hmmm. Convenient timing for something like this to occur. Now KUSD and liberal groups will be using this to fearmonger votes for their referendum.
You are correct, KUSD is a major disappointment to parents, students and taxpayers!
Since the text message to vote went out right after the swatting text.
If KUSD had another $100 million dollars from our pockets this wouldn’t have happened….
What…. No photo of Patten in his smed-ium uniform?
If they catch who did this (Solis-please listen), the minimum sentence sought should be at least one day for every single persons day who was disrupted by this. Each student, each teacher, each secretary, each cop, each fireman, each custodian…. Set an example please.
People pull these stunts thinking they are harmless, but
nothing could be further from the truth.
They put dozens, if not hundreds of people’s lives at risk.
Post the names of all involved, regardless of age.
Thank you for promptly reporting on this, Kevin
