KENOSHA, Wis. — The City of Kenosha announced it will once again provide residents with an opportunity to securely dispose of sensitive paperwork during a free community shredding event on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025.
The service will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at three locations: the Northside Library at 1500 27th Avenue, the Southwest Library at 7979 38th Avenue, and the Kenosha Water Utility at 4401 Green Bay Road. Each site will be staffed by representatives from Shred-It, a professional document destruction company, who will handle and shred the materials on site.
According to the city’s announcement, Kenosha residents may bring up to five bags or boxes of paper documents. Officials note this service is especially valuable for disposing of old tax records, financial statements, and other paperwork containing personal information that could be used in identity theft if discarded improperly.
The shredding event is part of the city’s ongoing effort to promote public safety and community trust by giving residents a secure and environmentally responsible way to discard outdated records. Once shredded, the paper is typically recycled, making the event beneficial both for privacy protection and for reducing waste.
Kenosha officials said future shredding dates for 2026 will be announced in February, continuing the tradition of offering residents free annual opportunities to safeguard personal information.
Residents seeking more information about the Oct. 11 event may contact Kris Kochman, Community Relations Liaison for the City of Kenosha, at 262-653-4177 or by email at [email protected].
