PADDOCK LAKE, Wis. — Families in western Kenosha County will soon have a new place for children to play as county officials prepare to unveil a renovated playground at Old Settlers Park featuring expanded accessibility and safety improvements.
Kenosha County officials announced that a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the updated playground will take place June 11 at 5:30 p.m. at Old Settlers Park, located at 24100 75th St. County Executive Samantha Kerkman, Kenosha County Parks Director Wyatt Moore and other stakeholders are expected to participate in the event.
The project includes several additions aimed at making the playground more accessible to children of varying abilities. Among the new features are a wheelchair transfer slide, an accessible rocker and what county officials described as the first poured-in-place playground surface installed by Kenosha County Parks. The surface is designed to create a smoother, roll-on experience intended to improve access and mobility throughout the playground area.
County officials said the renovation focused on both accessibility and safety improvements, allowing more children to use the space regardless of physical limitations.
The ribbon cutting will also serve as the kickoff for the 2026 Rhythm on the Lake concert series. Following the ceremony, visitors are invited to remain at the park for a free performance by the 90s Jake Band from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Rhythm on the Lake series is scheduled to run every Thursday from June 11 through Aug. 13 and will feature live music in a family-friendly outdoor setting. County officials encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs or blankets for the performances.
