Kenosha County Cases Face Scrutiny After Former Officer’s Troubling History Comes to Light
A former Kenosha Police officer and Kenosha County Deputy Sheriff, Michael Rizzo, has become a liability for multiple prosecutions in Kenosha County due to a history of disciplinary actions, a restraining order, accusations of violating a court order, and dishonesty. His record is likely to be exploited by defense attorneys to challenge his credibility as a witness in ongoing cases. Rizzo’s Turbulent Law Enforcement Career Rizzo was first hired by the Kenosha Police Department (KPD) on April 29, 2019. However, he resigned on August 10, 2022, to take a job with the Phoenix Police Department in Arizona. His time in Phoenix was short-lived, as he later returned to KPD on January 18, 2023, before once again leaving for the Phoenix Police Department. During his tenure at KPD, Rizzo faced at

Embattled Kenosha Politician Caught Violating Election Laws By Using Taxpayer Money For Campaign
Andy Berg (D), a long time Kenosha County Board member, knows the campaign finance laws well. In fact, when he submitted paperwork for re-election, he was given a packet called “Candidate Guidelines – Spring Elections 2024.” County Clerk Regi Waligora sent all candidates running for re-election this guide as a courtesy. On the top of page four, it displays the following: Use Of Government Materials By CandidateAccording to Wisconsin State Statute, section 11.33, candidates who are running for re-election, may not use public funds for the cost of materials or distribution for 50 or more pieces of substantially identical materials distributed after the first day authorized by law for circulation of nomination papers as a candidate. KCE discovered, via public records requests that on February 2, 2024, Berg sent an

City’s Public Works Committee Wants To Crack Down On Illegal Signs In Right-Of-Ways
Do you want to sell your house for cash? Do you have old diabetes test strips? Do you want your home cleaned, or the outside pressure washed? These are all questions that we’re asked every day in Kenosha. Not legally, however. Kenosha General Ordinance 5.045 is very clear when it states: “No person, party, firm or corporation shall place any banner, sign, decoration, or obstruction in any public right-of-way without first obtaining the written permission of the Director of Public Works….” The right-of-way is the area next to streets that is owned by the government. Signs like these may be place on private property with permission from the property owners, but they can’t be placed on City, County, or State property without permission. This is an ordinance that has gone unenforced for decades, but

Two In Custody After Chase With Kenosha Police: Video
On February 26, 2024 at 3:50 PM, the Kenosha Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit attempted a traffic stop in the 3500 block of 50th Street on a grey Infinity that had previously fled from police. The driver of the Infinity, Walter J. Brown, Jr, a 26-year-old Waukegan resident, decided to flee instead of stopping. Brown led the officers to the Paielli’s Bakery parking lot (6020-39th Avenue) where another vehicle was struck while backing out of a parking stall. The occupants of that vehicle were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. Brown, and his passenger, Jamil D. Parker, 25-year-old Zion resident, fled on foot after the accident. Parker was immediately apprehended. Brown was later arrested after police received a 911 call from an area resident indicating that someone ran into their

Racine County DA Blocks Kenosha County Eye From Emailing Her After Embarrassing Trial Loss
Racine County District Attorney Patricia Hanson told Kenosha County Eye today that she would be permanently blocking her entire staff’s email accounts from receiving any emails from us. This, just after KCE emailed her asking for comment on an embarrassing jury trial loss in Kenosha. Kenosha County Eye has had contact with Hanson many times over the last several years since we were founded in 2020 – none of them pleasant. She is arrogant, vindictive and petulant. Over the last four years, she has mostly ignored our emails. Once in a while, however, she has done something so embarrassing, that she tries to talk her way out of it. KCE has been critical of her. Here are some Kenosha cases that Hanson has handled that came under scrutiny from “the

7th Grade Science Teacher At KTEC Was Allegedly Grooming 13-Year-Old Student
***Editor’s Note: There have been no arrests or charges in this case. The teacher is presumed innocent.*** Kenosha County Eye today is naming the KUSD teacher that is on leave for allegations of inappropriate communications with a student. KCE was initially going to wait until criminal charges were filed, or KUSD disciplined the teacher. KCE based today’s decision on the lack of communication from KTEC and KUSD to the parents of students at the school. KCE believes that the community should be aware of the allegations, especially because KUSD is very weak on this type of conduct. KUSD has allowed grooming and other sexual conduct to go unpunished, just recently, in fact. Christian Enwright, 29, of Kenosha, was placed on leave after school officials learned that a young girl was

Salem Lakes Public Works Superintendent Resigns Suddenly, Just Days After Deposition
The Salem Lakes Public Works Superintendent has resigned from the Village of Salem Lakes, just days after giving damning sworn testimony about his behavior while employed for the Village. Paul Snellen, 50, of Illinois, resigned suddenly last week without giving any advanced notice. KCE was informed by the source familiar with Village operations, that Snellen’s job was in serious jeopardy after the Village was made aware of serious accusations of misconduct spanning several years. Snellen gave testimony on February 2, 2024 in the matter of the defamation lawsuit of Michael Culat, the ousted former trustee, against Kenosha County Eye. Snellen hired the same law firm to represent himself at his deposition that Culat hired to sue us – 138 miles away. Ousted Village Administrator Mike Murdock was also deposed recently

Salem Lakes Fire Commission President Resigns Less Than Three Weeks After Serial Arsonist Vice President
The Village of Salem Lakes Fire Commission is down to three members from its original five-member composition. This, after Allen Thennes, the Commission’s President resigned last week. Kenosha County Eye can confirm that the resignation was sudden and the letter complained of “politics” just like Dunski’s letter of resignation. Thennes resigned in part, because the Village President asked the Vice President to resign less than three weeks ago. The former Vice President, Allen M. Dunski, Jr is a serial arsonist that spent two years in prison after confessing to three separate arsons. Thennes and Dunski are close friends and both came under tremendous scrutiny after they failed to take action to stop a rogue Fire Chief and Fire Marshall from attempting to shut down businesses. Former Fire Chief James Lejcar
