City of Kenosha Alderman Anthony Kennedy makes about $6,000 a year from the taxpayers. He also works as a self-employed cab driver in Illinois. He filed for unemployment in Wisconsin listing the City of Kenosha as his employer. Here’s why that is concerning to members of the community: he is still employed and getting his paycheck from the City. He indicates in the paperwork that he was “not trying” to file against the City but instead wanted to receive the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance from the State of Wisconsin. This ranges from $652 to $1,480 per month. The State of Wisconsin denied his application. He then appealed this decision. He was slated to appears at a hearing in front of an administrative law judge on October 29. It is unknown if he succeeded. The Kenosha County Eye reached out to Alderman Kennedy for comment, but he did not respond to our request for clarification. (See Below Documents)
Another Alderman Filed for Unemployment Insurance, Denied

When the Kenosha County Eye received Kennedy’s unemployment records from our source, we were also given those of Alderman Holly Kangas. She also applied for unemployment insurance. The Kenosha News reported earlier this year that she was employed as a “Residential Escrow Manager with Landmark Title Kenosha, a Division of Chicago Title”. We reached out to Alderman Kangas for an explanation and she told us that she was denied unemployment for her previous employer (not the City of Kenosha). We reached out to Landmark Title to inquire if her termination was related to the Fox 6 Investigation and they have not responded. (See final Document Below)
