Drag Performer and School Board Candidate Draws Community Scrutiny, Support Ahead of April Election

Carl Bryan “Carlotta Cox” – Candidate for KUSD School Board

Kenosha, Wis. — Carl Bryan, a candidate for the Kenosha Unified School Board and an openly gay man, is facing criticism from some community members over his past performances as a drag queen under the name “Carlotta Cox.”

Bryan has downplayed his experience in drag, stating that he performed once for charity. In a recent statement, he said, “Not sure who needs to hear this, but I literally did drag for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a CHILDREN’s charity. For kids with cancer and other illnesses. Not sure what’s extreme about that.”

However, multiple images circulating on social media suggest that Bryan has performed in drag on several occasions. While Bryan has participated in reading programs for children, there are no confirmed instances of him doing so in drag.

Bryan, who has worked for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, recently received an endorsement from Planned Parenthood. The endorsement has prompted questions from some residents about the involvement of national organizations in local school board elections.

Public response has been mixed. Some residents voiced strong opposition to Bryan’s candidacy and background, expressing concern over his suitability to help oversee the school district.

“What the heck is wrong with people? Do you really want this in charge of your children?” one community member posted on social media. Others echoed concerns, linking Bryan’s campaign to broader debates over gender identity policies in schools, including locker room and sports participation rules.

Judge Chad Kerkman (Left)

Supporters, however, have defended Bryan’s character and commitment to education. Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Chad Kerkman (D) publicly endorsed Bryan, writing: “I love how you are living your authentic life in your own way. That is a recipe for success in all that you do. Keep being the example we need to see.”

Bryan himself has pushed back against claims that drag performances are harmful, calling them misunderstood and historically significant to the LGBTQ rights movement.

“My experience in the gay community is that drag performers are some of the most talented and compassionate people you could ever meet,” Bryan wrote in a 2013 social media post. “All of the misconceptions surrounding drag performers were never about anyone’s safety… This hatred has given way to an increase in LGBTQ-targeted violence, up to and including government-sanctioned prohibitions on LGBTQ existence in public life.”

Bryan is one of several candidates running for a seat on the Kenosha Unified School Board. Voters will decide the outcome in the April 1, 2025, election.

    1. Just received a post card in mail today to vote for him..Didn’t know anything about him..well this article is sure instrumental in telling me and other’s we don’t want this SCUM reading to our children let alone on the school board.. It’s so called grooming at its finest. And what the heck’s is wrong with Chad Kerman. Before you vote for any candidates make sure you check out their background and credentials.

      1. Vote for Valerie Kretchmer and Andreas Mamalakis. Both parents of kids in KUSD, both invested in our school and communities and not career bureaucrats like the other 2.

        11
        4
  1. When has Planned Parenthood gotten involved in school board races? I know they would like to be present in a community based school model of which Carl supports. Is this the reason behind their endorsement?

    43
    5
    1. Alliance refused Mr. Mathewson’s donation because of their support of KUSD, I wonder who they would endorse?

      1. Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. This, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly I say to you they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

        1. “27 Likewise also the [j]men, leaving the natural use of the [k]woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, [l]sexual immorality, wickedness, [m]covetousness, [n]maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 [o]undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, [p]unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” Romans 1: 27 -32

  2. This type of person doesn’t belong anywhere near children or making decisions about children. It’s becoming more and more obvious that today’s democrat party is controlled by perverts that want to enable/normalize gender dysphoria.

    49
    20
          1. Why is he mentally ill for wearing makeup for entertainment? During WWII, Navy guys used to put on drag shows to entertain the guys stuck on ships for long periods of time. It’s entertainment.

Only people with mental issues would think there’s something wrong with this and compare it to pedos and grooming. Groomers aren’t dressing up in drag…

  3. There was a time when moral standards were part of life sad to see what’s become acceptable in this country

    17

  4. It is the Republican party that is focused on genitalia. No matter the subject. Its performance art. Your children are way smarter than you think they are. If they choose not to go or you prevent them from going, that is your choice. You cannot dictate to others your beliefs.

    15
    50
    1. When government office, employment, military service and promotion are based upon who you SLEEP WITH, it’s a bunch of bullshit. PERIOD. That’s the focus of the left, so don’t get it twisted. Eyes are WIDE open now.

      4
      2
    2. Lynne, it would be “our choice” to see this mental instability performed HOWEVER, why is your side FORCING it into schools and at little children?

If normal people criticize it, YOUR side automatically brings out the “homophobia” label.

KEEP THIS MENTAL ILLNESS AWAY FROM OUR CHILDREN.

      6
      3
  5. Planned Parenthood endorsing Carl Bryan truly demonstrates their desire to destroy the post-born just like the pre-born, anyway they can.
Judge Chad Kerkman reveals the vile and wicked aberration he really is. How absolutely depraved Bryan & Kerkman both are. Disgusting!

    35

    32

    1. Vote for Valerie Kretchmer and Andreas Mamalakis for KUSD school board. Both are invested parents with children in KUSD and are not carreer bureaucrats.

      37

  7. What he does in his personal life is his business,..how he shows character as a person, his beliefs, and professionalism, is what the people should be looking at,instead of his extra curricular personal activities.
    NO H8!

    13
    38
    1. I agree with that but he was a terrible School board member before we should not reelect people that didn’t do a good job

      14
      2
    2. Teresa, his personal life is his business….BUT when he openly displays a mental illness in his personal life, it HAS to be taken into account especially when he is trying to promote his mental illness to young children.

That is no “H8”, that’s common sense.

      6
      4
    3. What he does in his own personal life is his business, and as long as he keeps it to himself it is between him and God. But dressing in drag and doing public shows affects other people, it is no longer private; and then saying he sees no problem with it and saying that those who disagree with him oppose the LGBTQ agenda…. well yes, we do oppose it, especially any kind of sexualization of children!

  8. You people are really weird. So this guy likes to go to bars and play with makeup in his free time and this is the best line of attack you could come up with? 🥱

    12
    26
    1. “Weird” didn’t work againt Vance. Your Democrat playbook doesn’t work anymore.
Trump was wrong; we are not getting tired of winning.

    2. Right, The article itself did not say a single negative thing about this person, yet everyone is attacking him as if it did. It just says he likes to parade around in women’s clothing and there is nothing illegal about that. It’s a personal choice. He’s not forcing it on anyone or trying to tell others they should be like him. He’s just doing his thing, which doesn’t harm anyone, which is great. If you think being gay or cross-dressing hurts children, well that is your belief, but it is not everyone’s belief. Some people think children seeing different sorts of people will make them healthier.

      1. If I am a vegetarian and think those that eat meat are immoral and possibly damned to hell, does that mean that I should expect all non-vegetarians to be denied public office or prohibited from teaching in schools?

  9. Planned Parenthood receives about $700 million dollars in tax payer funding currently. Why are they inserting themselves in this race. Have they donated to Carl? What do they benefit by him getting elected? A vote on PP running school health clinics? #CommunitySchools

    9
    2
  10. I already voted by absentee ballot. I sure didn’t vote for Carl or Stevens. KUSD needs to clean up their school board! Yolanda needs to go. So glad Kenoshians voted NO on the KUSD referendum. Closing schools and then asking for more money! We need a better group to budget KUSD’s spending of taxpayers monies!

    19
    3
  11. One can only assume Mr. Drag Queen Carlotta Cox has a middle name.
One might also safely guess that it could likely be something despicable like “Straight-Up”, and ready to use.
While Chad Kerkman may relish this treat on his evening menu, It certainly wouldn’t be an entre’e that I would want to offer my children’s eyes nor their minds to be exposed to.
    These people are really sick!

    5
    4
  12. I don’t intend to vote for Mr. Bryan but as a conservative I must defend his right to freedom of expression. I would be very concerned if his proclivities extended to his interactions with students and, as noted in the article, that has not been the case. Senator Barry Goldwater, one of our nation’s biggest defense hawks and the conscience of conservatism, once said, “You don’t need to be straight to fight and die for your country. You just need to shoot straight.”

I should also note that Steve Gunderson from Osseo was a gay Republican member of Congress.

That said, I don’t care for drag or rap or punk or cramming anything about sexual preferences down the throats of school kids. But if Mr. Bryan wants to dress up in drag and he’s not harming anyone, it’s his right and I will zealously defend it even though I think it’s weird.

    6
    8
    1. Even if he’s not harming anyone, it’s proof he has a mental disorder; therefore should not be around kids.

      11
      4
    2. Nice try, but there’s no way you’re a conservative, anyone can write that crap and say they’re a conservative. Like all the people in political ads getting paid to say I voted for so-and-so, but I won’t this time.

  13. I have heard that multiple local attorneys have suggested a substitution of Kerkman when they were representing female clients. Kerkman is known to favor men. So…

    3
    1
  14. What a disgusting, revolting piece of trash! Just what our children need is someone endorsed by the biggest baby killing organization in the world. Also, watch how many more groomer teachers will surface if he gets in, not to mention the increase of more pornographic books in the schools. Carl Bryan and his lover, Chad Kerkman should move to San Francisco where they can rot with the fruits and nuts. We don’t want him harming our kids!

    2
    1
  15. Why is Planned Parenthood endoring a school board candidate???? They push gender ideology, explicit sexual material for minors, abortions etc!!! WTF

  16. A couple of days after this story first appeared, the “Southeast Wisconsin Labor Times” arrived by mail.
I read multiple endorsements from various people and entities supporting this vile and aberrant excuse for a candidate for any school board. I find this utterly disgusting that the Labor community is infested with such a wicked affinity with those consumed by this unnatural lifestyle.
The endorsements of the Southeast Wisconsin Labor Times are extremely useful when deciding who NOT to Vote For.

    1. Just like the Kenosha news being just another labor paper all those years. Fastest way to research responsible voting was to clip out the Kenosha news endorsements and vote the opposite.

  17. I thought DEI was dead. I don’t know what this guys qualifications are but let’s assume that he just wants to serve his community. Personally I would not vote for this guy only because who needs this kind of distraction on the school board. Carlotta Cox spare me.

  18. Sadly, despite the horrible job he did last time he was on the board and increasing knowledge of his mental shortcomings, Kenosha apparently deserves the kind of mess we have in our schools because they just elected him back in. Same thing with long time untouchable Rebecca Stevens. People say we need to do something, but then they make the same mistakes over and over again.

  19. This web site is a CONSTANT stream of posts about sexual predators and criminals in Kenosha County.

How many of those are drag queens?

    None.

They’re pastors and police and teachers.

Y’all are looking in the wrong places for the groomers and perverts and rapists.
