PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. – A man identified as Adam S. Nickl, a registered sex offender, was arrested June 6 after allegedly entering a home without pants in a neighborhood near the 7300 block of 75th Street while two children were present inside. Police body-worn camera video shows Nickl being apprehended by officers with the assistance of K-9 Officer Chase.
According to the Pleasant Prairie Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 1:58 p.m. when officers responded to a 911 call reporting an unknown, half-naked man trespassing inside a residence. The caller told dispatchers the man had fled toward a nearby wooded area.
Using both a department drone and K-9 Officer Chase, officers quickly located Nickl about a quarter mile from the home, still nude from the waist down. The footage shows officers ordering Nickl to comply and taking him into custody without incident.
Nickl was transported to Froedtert South Hospital for medical evaluation before being booked into the Kenosha County Jail. He is charged with criminal trespass to a dwelling and disorderly conduct.
Nickl is a lifetime registrant on the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program and was in compliance with registration requirements at the time of his arrest. His status stems from a prior conviction for Repeated Sexual Assault of the Same Child (At Least 3 Violations of 1st or 2nd Degree Sexual Assault) and bail jumping. He received only four years in prison for that offense from former liberal activist Judge Mary Wagner (D), a sentencing decision that drew public criticism at the time.
In a statement, Pleasant Prairie Police credited the quick arrest to advancements in their technology programs. “The use of our drone and PPPD K-9 Officer Chase were crucial to quickly arresting the suspect,” the department said. “We continue to advance our drone and K-9 programs, so we keep having effective outcomes like this.”
Authorities urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity by calling 262-694-7353.
