KENOSHA, Wis. – A 30-year-old Kenosha woman is facing two felony charges after police say she was heavily intoxicated and asleep while her two young sons, ages 3 and 4, wandered nearly half a mile across city streets, prompting multiple 911 calls.

Alyssa M. Stone was charged Monday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with two counts of child neglect. Court Commissioner William Michel II set her cash bail at $2,500. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 24.
According to the criminal complaint, Kenosha police were dispatched on June 13 after multiple callers reported seeing two unattended toddlers—first at a park on 79th Street and later near the Dollar General store at 7930 Sheridan Road. The children, who appeared lost and confused, were dressed in mismatched adult-sized footwear, and one was only wearing boxer underwear and a t-shirt.
Good Samaritans intervened when the boys were reportedly about to cross Sheridan Road. The children were unable to provide their names, address, or information about a caregiver.
The boys were later identified as brothers, ages 3 and 4. Using a damaged phone the children were carrying, a caller reached a relative who said their mother must have fallen asleep.
A short time later, Stone arrived at the scene. Officers described her as unsteady, glassy-eyed, and smelling of alcohol. She reportedly admitted to drinking two or three shots of liquor and claimed she had been sleeping at her boyfriend’s home on 15th Avenue—roughly half a mile from where the children were found.
A preliminary breath test showed Stone had a blood alcohol concentration of .258—more than three times the legal limit for driving.
Police noted the children had to cross busy roads and were unable to communicate effectively, placing them in significant danger due to neglect.
If convicted, Stone faces up to 3 years and 6 months in prison on each Class I felony count.

I feel for those poor babies. Hopefully she gets help, and someone in her family will be responsible at taking the children in until their mother is proved competent to take them back!
Wonder if Kevin going to the bond hearing July 9th? These toddlers need a voice.
