SOMERS, Wis. — A Somers man who was the subject of a high-profile FBI and Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office raid has pleaded guilty in federal court to possessing child pornography. Steven J. Rezmer, 52, entered the guilty plea on May 15, 2025, and is scheduled to be sentenced this fall.

Rezmer was charged in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin with one felony count of possessing child pornography in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252A(a)(5)(B). The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and up to five years of supervised release. He also faces a mandatory $100 special assessment and potential forfeiture of electronic equipment.
The case stems from a June 5, 2024, search warrant executed at Rezmer’s home in the 1200 block of 42nd Avenue in Somers. Investigators from the FBI and Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office seized digital evidence as part of the investigation, which later led to formal charges filed in May 2025.
According to the plea agreement filed with the court, federal agents recovered 57 images and 32 videos of child pornography from a hard drive belonging to Rezmer. The files were downloaded and stored using internet-based software and met the federal standard for prosecution due to their origin and method of transmission. Authorities confirmed that the materials depicted minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and had been transported using means of interstate commerce.
Rezmer appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge William E. Duffin on May 15, where he waived indictment and formally entered his plea. The court conducted a standard plea colloquy under Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 11, during which Rezmer was found competent and fully aware of the consequences of his plea. Judge Duffin concluded that the plea was knowing, voluntary, and supported by a sufficient factual basis, and recommended that it be accepted by the presiding judge.
No objections were filed to that recommendation, and U.S. District Judge J.P. Stadtmueller formally adopted it on June 3, 2025. Rezmer is expected to be adjudicated guilty at sentencing.
Rezmer had originally been scheduled for sentencing on August 15, but the hearing has since been rescheduled. He will now appear for sentencing on September 4, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. in Milwaukee federal court.
Rezmer is currently out of custody on pretrial release conditions. The court ordered a presentence investigation report, which is due in mid-July, with sentencing memoranda and objections to follow in August.
At the time of the FBI raid, Rezmer was serving as a director for the AFC Union Racine soccer club. He abruptly resigned from that role shortly afterward, citing “personal reasons.” The club has not been implicated in the investigation and has not issued further public comment.
Prosecutors have not alleged that Rezmer distributed or produced any of the material in his possession. However, the plea agreement includes a forfeiture provision, allowing the government to seize any devices or media associated with the offense. No restitution has been requested as of now.
The June 2024 raid at Rezmer’s residence involved approximately 20 vehicles from both federal and county agencies, drawing significant attention from neighbors and prompting widespread speculation about the nature of the investigation. The Kenosha County Eye was the first news outlet to report the incident, which remained under seal until charges were filed nearly a year later.
Rezmer has no prior federal convictions. His sentencing in September will determine whether he will serve time in federal prison, and if so, for how long.
