SALEM LAKES, Wis. — As floodwaters begin to recede across the Village of Salem Lakes, officials say the community is now shifting into recovery mode, with cleanup efforts underway and resources being made available to residents dealing with damage from the recent flooding.
Village officials announced that cleaning supplies and bottled water are now available for residents at Village Hall, following a coordinated effort with local organizations and businesses to gather essential items for those affected. Volunteers and aid groups have already begun distributing supplies in the hardest-hit areas.

Members of the Red Cross have been actively handing out flood cleanup kits, while additional kits and cases of water—donated by the Journey Disaster Relief Team—are also being offered for pickup during regular business hours.
In addition to immediate cleanup support, the Village is partnering with the Kenosha County Department of Health and Human Services to address potential water safety concerns. Free well water test kits are being distributed at Village Hall from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with officials urging residents who rely on well water to take advantage of the testing. Completed kits can be returned to Village Hall, and an after-hours drop-off bin is being installed outside for convenience.

Village officials are also asking residents to assist in documenting the extent of the flooding. Those with photos of floodwaters or property damage are encouraged to submit images along with a nearby address or location and a brief description to [email protected].
Officials say the response from the community has been strong, with neighbors stepping up to help one another during the recovery process. Residents who know someone in need of supplies are encouraged to direct them to Village Hall.
“The Village is grateful for the outpouring of support,” officials said, noting that the cleanup phase will continue in the days ahead as crews and residents work to restore affected areas.
