KENOSHA, Wis. — Drivers traveling through a busy stretch of Kenosha’s east side will see changing traffic patterns after city officials announced an update to an emergency road closure that had disrupted travel near Sheridan Road.
The City of Kenosha previously closed 24th Street between 14th Avenue and Sheridan Road for emergency infrastructure repairs. However, officials now say the roadway has reopened to traffic ahead of schedule.
The reopening will be temporary.
According to an updated notice from city officials, the area is scheduled to close again on Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23, as crews conduct track replacement work in the area.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and allow additional travel time while the work is underway.
The temporary reopening and additional closure schedule means drivers who regularly use the corridor may encounter changing traffic conditions over the next several days. City officials have not released additional details regarding the scope of the rail work.

Is it contracted out? Saturday is pretty aggressive dating for the union city boys to have completion. May cut into the Simmons Library beautification budget?
This towns road conditions are deplorable. Years of neglect and hot patching. Its embarrassing to drive guests around. The first thing they comment on is the horrible conditions of the roads but by all means keep sticking millions into the ghetto uptown area. SMH
Ever have the opportunity to follow the “hot patch” truck and rig, you’re gonna love it.
For safety reasons there is a truck that stays behind the asphalt patch rig. BUT that truck usually has two individuals in it. Why you ask? Not sure but must be safety reasons. The asphalt rig operator will do a half completed job and miss filling the majority. The pace and diligence would be alot better with two maybe three shovels filling?
But then again maybe safety wont allow a more efficient job to be done. Four workers sometimes five driving around looking good.though in search of Volkswagon eating holes. The motto is dont work too hard or fast cause they’ll require it all the time.
I asked the foreman why the pockets are sewn upside down on our tee shirts one time and was told its a place for shovel handles and lean time.
If its possible to contract out the work they do. Go to 52nd and Sheridan building. And take a gander down stairs. T Vs and boys with feet on desk snoozing.
