KENOSHA, Wis. – The assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has prompted swift reactions from local leaders.
About Charlie Kirk Charlie Kirk, 31, was born October 14, 1993, in the Chicago suburbs. At just 18 years old, he co-founded Turning Point USA, a conservative youth organization that quickly grew into a nationwide network of high school and college chapters. Under his leadership, Turning Point expanded into affiliate groups including Turning Point Action and Turning Point Faith.
Kirk also hosted The Charlie Kirk Show, a daily talk radio and podcast program, and authored several books, including The MAGA Doctrine and The College Scam. In 2018, Forbes named him to its “30 Under 30” list in law and policy. He married Erika Frantzve, a former Miss Arizona USA, in 2021, and the couple had two children.
Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University during a Turning Point event. His death has drawn national attention and tributes from across the political spectrum.

Wisconsin State Representative Amanda Nedweski released a statement Tuesday evening: “Charlie Kirk worked to advance discourse and debate and welcomed those with diverse viewpoints to participate. In response to a request from KCE, County Executive Samantha Kerkman’s office confirmed that flags at county facilities will be lowered Thursday as previously scheduled in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks. Per President Trump’s proclamation, they will remain at half-staff through Sunday, Sept. 14, in memory of Charlie Kirk. Kerkman also issued a statement:

By the grace of God, she was not in the immediate vicinity of the shooting and was not harmed.
