I am running for office to give back to the community. With my professional background and experience I hope to bring fresh ideas to the city. Kenosha and in particular District 2, both hold a broad demographic of businesses and residential diversity, including those that are underserved. Focusing efforts on improving overall quality of life, it will be important to have community members issues and concerns be heard. I will listen. My belief is the role of an Alderman is to represent citizens at the district and city levels. We have a duty to speak for the people of District 2 and safeguard their interests.

No, However I believe they responded within the confines of what the State was supposed to provide. I don’t pretend to know the complete story or facts but the rioting, looting , and destruction of property did not have to happen in my opinion.

Why are you running for the City Council?
To be a caretaker of the public community. Kenosha is a great town with good people who want to keep things nice and maintained. I want to see the completion of the 22nd Avenue repaving project that extends from the far north to the far south side of town. The Dream Playground is now a part of district 6 and I want to see the security aspect of that facility maintained to discourage vandalism. I want to see local business increase as many where devastated by the government mandated policies over the last two years while big corporations where deemed essential and could remain open. We need to keep our local taxes from jumping to pay for all the government spending that has been happening under the Biden administration. The critical issue that goes to the heart of our republic is election integrity. We cannot allow further corruption to invade the voting process. 2020 showed everyone how important it is to have legal voting – one vote per legal citizen.
If elected to the City Council what will your three biggest priorities be?
1. Curbing violence in the streets – City Administration must address the shootings, homicides and general violence that seems to have found a home in the City of Kenosha.
2. Keeping taxes in check as government is always wanting to raise them.
3. Street resurfacing, repair and pedestrian walkways need attention and I want to continue to work to have those repairs and upgrades made.

I will always be available to the constituents via telephone and email. Now that the pandemic is over, people will be out and about which includes me. I have been known to stop by to chat with residents out in the community to discuss various issues.
Do you believe the city administration responded appropriately to the Kenosha riots of 2020?
No. I was appalled at the rioting and violence that took place over the Summer of 2020. I was very vocal in the community and on social media demanding the violence be stopped.
I did not see our elected leaders condemn the violence but I did see some coddle and support the rioting. I saw state level politicians explain away the violence and the media seemed to revel in the actions of the criminal element and Marxist lead demonstrators.
When people have a cause, I will always support them but when Antifa and BLM come to town to tear up property, start fires and beat up citizens, the leaders of the police department and Sheriffs department need to protect and serve the community or the citizens will.
Brandi is a compassionate community member who enjoys getting involved by volunteering and serving with local Non-Profits. She is currently Treasurer of the Friends of Hawthorn Hollow board, formerly a Board Member of Garden of Eatin’ -Kenosha, and a regular volunteer for Grace Welcome Center. Her service shows her passion and care for the environment.
She has been dedicated to improving the environment of District 6 by coordinating the Washington Park Clean Up in Spring 2021 where 10 contractor bags of plastics, glass, and debris were collected from the watershed. Over the last year she has also coordinated a food drive & winter supply drive benefiting Grace Welcome Center, & school supply drive benefiting Grant & Jefferson Elementary, Washington Middle School, and Bradford High School.

Why are you running for the City Council?
I’m running for office so everyone feels safe & connected to our community. Kenosha has a history that binds us, especially in District 6 with Peter Pirsch, PepsiCo, DeRangos; it also has a future full of new distinct small businesses like Smarties Sweet Treats and the possibilities in store with the KIN. I’m running for office so that every child in Kenosha sees they can build on our history and find a future here.
Through my involvement in the community I have witnessed areas in which society falls short for members of the community. I care about people, and believe an Alderperson’s first responsibility is to care for citizens’ needs and be a liaison for them to the city. I’m a listener, not a talker and I’m happy to listen to the needs of the community and negotiate a balance of citizen & city needs in order to find the best outcome for our community.
Over the past few years I’ve seen people become frustrated because they feel like they aren’t being heard. I empathize and I want to do better for District 6. I’m interested in hearing from everyone, to discover the root of the issue and solving that issue together. I want to make sure that everyone sees a future in Kenosha.
If elected to the City Council what will your three biggest priorities be?
The prominent issues in our community include reducing violence, reducing the effects of climate change on our community, and ensuring that leadership is listening to constituents’ concerns and making compassionate decisions.
We have an opportunity to reduce community violence by breaking cycles of retaliation and de-escalating reactions to stress, as well as creating stable neighborhoods via environmental design. An opportunity is present in proposed infrastructure. Solar panels have advanced to a point that they are a financially viable solution to utility production. They have been proven to provide significant savings over the lifetime of the equipment vs purchasing traditional grid power. The new City Hall, Downtown Auditorium, and KIN infrastructure the city is proposing have the longevity to justify investing in rooftop solar in order to save the city budget money in operations costs over the long term.

How did the city handle the 2020 riots?
I support the “Resolution to Express Support for De-Escalation Alternatives to the Use of Tear Gas, Riot Control Agents and Non-Lethal Rounds for the Use of Crowd Control and Establish Methodologies to Explore Alternatives” which was unfortunately defeated in Council on September 8th, 2021. Those affected by the actions described in this resolution include Kenosha citizens as well as Journalists from the NYT, Getty, and CBS58, Street Medics who were injured or arrested for exercising their first amendment rights. The disproportionate response from KCSD leadership has resulted in lawsuits and dismissed charges as the curfew was deemed unconstitutional, not to mention the physical and emotional damage done to our community. It is concerning to see the lack of proactive steps taken to de-escalate and prevent damage like that from being done to our citizens & our community again. I firmly believe that a review of options and creation of clear policy for protecting people’s 1st amendment rights to peaceful assembly and prevent more physical and emotional damage on the scale of 2020 from happening again will create a better future for District 6 & the city. Kenosha has the opportunity to be a leader for the rest of the country by establishing best practices in handling community crises and social unrest. It is imperative that we immediately equip our public safety staff with de-escalation training and utilize mental health professionals’ advice as resources for interactions with the public.

Why are you running for the City Council?
I’ve called Kenosha home for most of my life, but I briefly worked in Los Angeles, where I saw firsthand how poor decisions by lawmakers can destroy livelihood. California cities that were once prosperous and ideal, widely known for the American Dream, are now downtrodden with violence, unaffordable housing and a failing economy. I couldn’t sit idly by and let the same thing happen here. Many of us no longer recognize the Kenosha that we grew up in. I returned home in 2015 with a renewed sense of family, purpose and appreciation for Wisconsin values.
I serve on the board of directors for an IT company and I’ve operated a wedding band LLC business for over 10 years. These positions have given me experience in strategic planning, leadership, fiscal oversight and governance systems. I feel now is the time to put my experience and skills to good use to make our city a better place.
If elected to the City Council what will your three biggest priorities be?
While talking to the residents in my district, I’ve heard 3 main issues that will be my priority: The need for increased public safety, fixing the roads, and improved communication between the alderman and citizens. I’d also like to eliminate waste in our spending, and prioritize the budget for protection of our families and our rights.

Our city officials failed to act during the 2020 riots, and most residents say they made the problem worse by ignoring it. The attempted curfew was never legally enacted, so unfortunately our prosecutors couldn’t enforce it. The initial request for national guard was botched, with city officials admittedly getting their “wires crossed”. Top leaders refused to enact emergency powers and seemingly encouraged rioting as our city burned. Weak leadership has created a ripple effect of disdain for law enforcement, as evidenced by the recent increase in crime. I support our police officers and stand for law and order, to bring safety and comfort back to Kenosha, and I pledge a swift response to emergency situations.

It is my way of giving back to the community. I have lived in my house for 48 years. During that time, I have been and Alderperson three different times, the last being August, 2017 to the present. Why are you running for the City Council?
With the district changes that recently took place, I decided to run for city council. Because of my growing interest in learning about city government over the years and being a life-long resident of Kenosha, I decided it was time to give back to my hometown. A new and fresh perspective is needed to keep Kenosha going forward in a positive light.
If elected to the City Council what will your three biggest priorities be?
My BIGGEST priority is public safety. I never want to see “Kenosha’s Finest” ever having to stand down during a riot. What they were forced to endure was not only in the best interest of protecting our city, it was also a physical danger to each and every officer. The other two top priorities is ensuring small businesses thrive, and prioritizing city funds; how can we add new infrastructures and roads when we can’t even maintain the ones we have now.

I never want to see what happened in 2020 to ever occur again. City government was inept at adequately providing trust in our law enforcement professionals to properly conduct what they have been trained for. Because of this, many parts of our city burned to the ground. The lack of professional presence by many of our leaders was scarce. Judgment was made too quickly without taking the time to research the facts.

I grew up on a homestead in southwest Wisconsin and lived in Florida for several years and that’s where I acquired my degree in Business Administration and pursued my degree in Public Safety Administration. When I moved to Kenosha, I worked for a local business for several years, reaching management-level employment. I aspire to own and operate an organic, sustainable, permaculture farm someday. I am a father and husband, and my family attends locally a church here in Kenosha. While I believe elected representatives and authorities are typically under a not-insignificant amount of pressure that effects decision-making; that is no excuse to not lead sacrificially for the safety of residents and the city as a whole. If a representative must lose some sleep to stay watchful, then that they must do. That said, I believe that some local representatives responded much better than others.

Why are you running for the City Council?
I care about Kenosha, and I want to be part of the wonderful things coming to this area. There have been major changes to the Chrysler site and I’m excited to see the end results. As I drive around the three wards in the 12th District, I saw and see many of things that must change. There is garbage outside of homes after garbage pickup and dilapidated homes which may be owned by absent property owners or landlords “just collecting money”. Kenosha is a beautiful city and I want that to be said and seen throughout Kenosha.
If elected to the City Council what will your three biggest priorities be?
1. Jobs are the focus of anyone running for office, however, with the creation of jobs there should be work for people with troubled backgrounds, work in areas that include “real” transportation, (not those where a person arrives two hours early and leaves two hours after a shift ends), and for people regardless of the education. I would love to see employment with training and growth opportunities for positions other than a stocker, clerk, or even temporary positions.
2. I would like to see improvement in the public safety sector. The recent incident at Lincoln could have been resolved easier. There are many issues wrong. There are a few questions we should ask such as what was the cause of the fight, where were the adults while tensions were mounting, and how were they able to get to the point where police needed to intervene? There should be curricula which teaches conflict resolution for teens.
3. Lastly, I would like to see youth activities on this side of town. Yes, we have the Rec Plex and the YMCA; those places are nowhere near walking distance and most youth in this area have no way to get there and once they are there may not afford the cost to enter. The B & G Club is within walking distance, but they must cross at least two major streets. I would like a place like the mini KYF’s we had when I was a child. That kept us busy and out of trouble. When my children were young there was the Lincoln Center which closed because repairs were more than desired. The Frost site is ideal for this because it is in the area most needed. We do not need more housing; we need youth activities.

Day one of the riot was a disaster. Day two was better. It was not a ten on a ten scale, because there could have been more done. I believe that some authorities were aware of how people were entering our city, but nothing was done until the public heard about what was happening. Also, the Uptown area was targeted which means that is where more police coverage was needed. The National Guard is to prevent riots and to protect the State not just the Court House. While the National Guard was here it was not enough to protect the area where most of the damage was done.

Why are you running for the City Council?
I decided to run for the City Council to get involved and make a difference. We have a great city and I want to be a part of moving our community forward. I believe Kenosha can be an example of how a community responds through diversity. I want to be involved in improving public safety, looking at budgets, and promoting responsible spending.
If elected to the City Council what will your three biggest priorities be?
The first is public safety. I would push to make sure our Police and Fire Fighters have the funding necessary to hire, train, and put into action the people necessary to maintain proper levels of personnel. This is currently not being done. Secondly, I would make sure that the needs and proper communication would be made in District 14. I would also work with the other Alderman to share ideas about how to improve Kenosha, especially in our hardest-hit areas. Our city council needs new ideas and perspectives to improve these areas. Thirdly, I would continue to improve on our city’s infrastructure. We need to continue to support the road replacement and resurfacing projects.

I do not believe the city administration responded appropriately. Before everything escalated, our city leaders should have been ready to do whatever was necessary to deescalate the situation. They should be ready to make decisions to keep our community safe. This is what leaders do! This was clearly not done. I think we could have worked with the county, state, and federal government to address this much faster.

Why are you running for the City Council?
I believe Kenosha is a great place to live and raise a family. That being said, Kenosha has its challenges and I want to bridge that gap between the past and the future. There is work left to complete in the 14th District and throughout the city. I am uniquely positioned with the leadership Toledo have held the past 14 years to help both the 14th district and the city. For the past 10 years I have served as Chairman of the Finance Committee where I have assisted with passing budgets that are under the state imposed levy limits. I have worked with City Staff in refinancing city debt service and saving the tax payers over $10 million dollars in interest. I understand the complexities of TIF Districts and the city’s ability to utilize TIF Districts to finance infrastructure projects city wide. Finally, I am running because it is an honor to serve the residents of the 14th District.
If elected to the City Council what will your three biggest priorities be?
1. Increasing the number of police officers and firefighters. Providing them with the tools needed to do their jobs effectively.
2. Infrastructure. Making certain that road resurfacing projects are continuing in the 14th District.
3. Improving the Parks in the 14th District. Schulte Park was improved in 2020 and I was able to secure funding for improvements to Gangler park in 2022.

I am available to constituents in a variety of ways. Phone, email, Facebook 14th District account, Nextdoor App, and neighborhood meetings. Several neighborhood meetings were held this past year topics included sex offender residency, street projects, park projects, and neighborhood watch.

Our small city was not prepared for the size and length of nationally covered riots that occurred in August of 2020. In my opinion, I do not believe local, county, state, and federal governments responded as quickly as anyone would have liked. If they had this would not be a question that people are asking. I think everyone would agree all the entities involved could have done better.

We are getting very few new roads but the infrastructure in this town looks like a shithole, or war zone.

I know many of these people and trust me, they are NOT doing it for the salary, but to improve upon our city. Maybe you might want to reach out to some of them and actually learn who they are. I waited a bit and called back, expressing to him that this is not how I wanted our communication to end. He started crying at me and hung up again. He is not a public servant, he said that people like me, who disagree with him, would be kicked out of the city if he actually had his way.

How many of your hero public servants went door to door checking on people, updating them or telling them how to prepare during the riots. I know two county board members that did this.

Funny with all your faith in the city councils great leadership of our city you’d refer to Kenosha to a poorly run Democratic/corrupt town. How can this be with so many do gooders improving upon our city? This city should be under a Federal investigation. The Chief stolen emails, the guy that stole them is still employed. Pacetti not being prosecuted for intimidation of a witness who hire the the IT thief. The Chief being promoted to Pacetti’s job. The Bell case. The corrupt DA’s Office. Nepotism running wild. The Mayor’s nephew (a city detective) sitting at the corrupt prosecution’s table the entire Rittenhouse trial. How many council people were outraged that the police made a deal with the prosecutors to attempt to destroy a young man’s life for self defense and allow a felony criminal walk away from attempted murder and perjury charges.
