Kenosha Man Makes Plea To City Council After Wife Attacked By Vicious Pit-bulls: Video

Two of Three Dogs Neighbors and Heath Department Say Are Vicious

A 33-year-old Kenosha woman and her dog were out for an evening walk last Saturday, November 26, 2022 when she was viciously attacked by a pair of neighborhood pit-bulls. As she struggled to get into her house, her screams were quickly heard by her 34-year-old husband, who came to her aid. She finally got into the home and one of the pit-bulls followed her inside. The man quickly gained control of the dog and threw it outside. The dog went to the animal ER, and the woman, the hospital.

The young couple, luckily, weren’t walking their new-born baby as they usually do. Other neighbors have reported similar behavior from the three pit bulls owned by a seemingly irresponsible neighbor and dog-owner named Dawn Holmquist-Johnson (39). We knocked on Holmquist’s door today, and they were home, but didn’t come to the door. Four pit-bulls, however were clearly seen. KCE spoke with a half-dozen neighbors who all said the same thing. They have to look both ways when they leave or arrive at their homes every day.

Kenosha Police cited the dogs’ owner. Kenosha County Health Department manager Mark Melotik tells KCE that the three dogs in question all have vicious animal orders, meaning, by ordinance, they can no longer live in the City limits. KCE learned, however that the owner plans to appeal to the City Council to allow for a special exception. This seems like common sense – the council will vote “no” right? Maybe not. The majority democrat-controlled council voted to allow a pit-bull named Otis to remain in the city back in June of 2016. Otis had already violently attacked three children. After the Council allowed Otis to remain in the City, it viciously attacked a fourth child.

Yes Votes Allowed Dangerous Pitbull To stay In City On June 6, 2016

Out of the nine Alderman who voted to keep the dangerous dog to stay in Kenosha, seven of the Aldermen are still on the Council.

Aldermen Haugaard (D), Michalski (D), LaMacchia (D), Rosenberg (D), Kennedy (D), Prozanski (D), and Rose (D) all voted to allow a dangerous dog to bite a fourth child. Hopefully they learned from their bone-headed decision and won’t make the same mistake twice.

Anyone can send an email to cityaldermen@kenosha.org and it goes to all 17 Aldermen. That’s what the husband of the Victim did a couple of days ago, he pleaded with the Aldermen to deny the special exception request.

    1. They are shitty dogs for all people, not just black people. Why are your limiting it to only one group of people?

    2. The owner is white. The girl who was attacked is white. What does black ownership have anything to do with this? You are definitely racist with this one. Stfu

      1. Hey STUPID FUCK….go look at the dog owner’s Facebook and her ghetto pimp, I mean boyfriend…..then come talk.

Say I’m racist if you want but the bottom line is 98% of aggressive pit bulls are those of black owners.

        1. Actually it’s almost always in white suburbia, where they believe the false notion that it’s “all how they’re raised.” The only dog owners to deny genetics are pit bull owners. Most deaths of people are happening to yuppies who buy into the BS. In the hood they’re typically kept locked up tight, unless it’s to do what it was bred to do.

    3. People are shitty. Animals are not. If an animal does act shitty, you can bet your last dollar a person has made it that way.

      1. Dog breeds are purpose bred, meaning most will behave in accordance to genetic patterning.
Pitbulls kill. It’s what they were created to do.

    6. And yet everyone involved here is white and the ones who killed their kids in TN and the dog breeders who created them to fight were white. And the pit mommies white

      9
      1
      1. AThe former dad of thise children was a breed advocate and swore no one would ever take his pit away from him. With two dead babkes and his wife in critical condition he must have changed his mind because no one fought pts ing the dogs.

    1. The aldermen don’t necessarily get complaints about this at first. It’s a County Health thing. Aldermen might only know once it comes to a vote.

  1. these dogs attacked my brother in-law and his dogs about two weeks ago and before that they killed his neighbor’s dog

        1. Thanks. I’m never in that neighborhood anyway, so now I have a reason to continue not to go there.

My son (in Bismarck ND) was walking his dog when Dog was attacked by a pit bull – son’s dog is OK but it was something like $1500 in vet bills. My son sued and the pit bull owner (female, Caucasoid, single mom) is paying him back at $50 a month. Not much, but at least she’s being held to account.

    1. How could anyone with two Brian cells to run together think it’s ok to have these dogs living among people in society. It’s a privilege to have a dog not a right

    1. Yes, you can carry a gun – and protect yourself legally whilst taking care of the problem permanently. That’s the only solution here.
And people, do NOT ignore your city council elections – that’s how nutjobs that okayed the dangerous pits get back into office. Maybe the victims should run for the office!

  2. A friend and former co worker was viciously attacked by two pit bulls in Southport park a few years ago. She was walking her dog there. In the distance she saw them running toward her and couldn’t get away in time. Those dogs tore open her face as she tried to protect her dog. Two men were in the park, came to her aid. She needed extensive plastic surgery. She later learned the Humane Society had refused to take the dogs shortly before this incident. She believes those owners who were from Illinois then dumped the dogs in Carol Beach. She feels those dogs would have killed her and her pup if not for those two Good Samaritans. Further, she contends the Humane Society keeps pit bulls in a separate area but denies doing so. Why this breed with all the dogs that need good homes?

  3. Not all pit bulls are vicious! They are only like that if they have been abused or the owner train them to be that way!

I know a lot of people with pit bulls and they are very friendly!!

    2
    23
    1. They’re friendly until they rip a child’s face off. Then the owner says “oh he never did that before”….

      15
      1
    2. This is a dumbass statement. Not all bears are vicious either. I’ve seen some people own them on TV and they’re very nice. I think I’ll get one tomorrow, and my neighbors should like it because I’m a good bear owner and I’ll do a good job.

    3. They can act sweet for year before going pit. That’s how ppl get lulled into believing that dogs bred for blood sports are actually safe. The dogs that killed the babies in TN had been with the owners 8 yrs and 10 yrs.

  4. The owners of the home that the dog entered, may have to handle the situation themselves. Protect your property and your family.

  5. I surely hope and pray the ppl that have had terrible interactions with those dogs are OK. Not sure if the owners have rental or home owner’s insurance.

  6. Wondering if the dog owner owns or rents, if they own I would absolutely draw their insurance company in and the financial burden will be addressed. In the future they will have issues retaining coverage, their insurance company will either refuse to renew or require a dog exclusion. If they are renters I would make contact with the landlord, allowing vicious dogs may transfer some of the responsibility to them. I pray for the victims, as they did absolutely nothing to provoke the attacks. These dogs are also being failed by their owner, I don’t think any dog starts out bad that responsibility falls at the feet of their humans.

    1
    1
    1. Use the available Kenosha County property inquiry and circuit court sites to get the answers:
**Appears to be a renter and on state assistance
      **Property owner is in Illinois

Not going to post names or addresses

  7. The owner needs to be held responsible and so do the aldermen! The wild dogs need to be on K-9 patrol and then maybe crime rates will go down! Their was an act of violence against people and their pets!

  8. The problem with protecting yourself with a personal defense tool (read: firearm) is that you can only use deadly force if you are in reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm. I would submit a pit bull attack would satisfy that requirement. But the way things work in Kenosha, you’d probably get cited for cruelty to animals, or discharging a weapon inside city limits.

    1. Agree. If those dogs stepped foot on my property, I wouldn’t hesitate to shoot them to protect my family AND my dogs.

  9. Two years ago, Liberal authorities in Wisconsin and Kenosha allowed viscous animals to riot, burn, and destroy parts of Kenosha. Now, still a majority of local authorities sit back and allow disrespectful neighbors with viscous dogs to continue to terrorize neighborhoods. But worse, are the neighbors not yet affected by viscous animals who sit back and do nothing.

    2
    7
  10. The Bottom line is, the owner needs to have dogs under control at all times, regardless the bread, The dog is not at fault or the Breed, the owner is unresponsible, and dogs need to be removed from her custody and should not be allowed to own a dog of any breed, this is ridicules for any one in her Neiborhood to have to deal with daily, this should never happen, there a lot of owners with pit bull and other large breeds that maintain their dogs in a safe way , i hope this dog owners is held responsible for her bad choices and the disregards for the people that live around her .

    1
    1
  11. I was attacked twice on the last year with my beagles. Once by a one year old pitt bull that was small enough for to pick up in the air by its collar. I would have killed it if not for the owner being out looking for it and took it home. The second time was by a shepperd/pitt bull mix. That time my beagles and i both were inured badly. There will not be a third time. I carry a pitt bull equalizer/neutralizer on me when we walk now. Also, Wisconsin statutes allows for double damages if the owner has been cited once already. My bills and settlement cost their insurance nearly $20,000. Next time its double.

  12. Thirty years ago everyone said the same thing about Doberman’s. I’ve had 3 Dobe’s and all were loving, intelligent, wonderful animals. You don’t hear that about Dobe’s anymore. Maybe the breed matured and is not mean anymore? I don’t know but I certainly agree that Pits are one scary dog if not trained and handled correctly. On the other hand, my neighbor’s mini poodle is one vicious dog so any dog can be vicious, just easy to kick an angry poodle out of the way.

    1. Dobermans and all of their identifiable mixes combined over the past 40 years have killed 11 Americans & Canadians. Pit bulls have killed 595. Apart from that, pit bulls as we know them today are direct descendants not only of the baiting-and-fighting dogs of medieval Europe but also of the “bulldogs” used to hunt fugitive slaves in the 18th and 19th centuries, and used by the KKK as frequent adjuncts to lynchings in the later 19th and 20th centuries. As professional dogfighting was for close to 100 years a protection racket & fundraising activity controlled by the KKK, pit bulls were very seldom seen in the black community until after the breakup of the “old” KKK in the very late 20th century, & even now are still at least as closely associated with the younger generation of white supremacists as with anyone of color

      4
      1
  13. Pit Bulls are a dangerous breed when mishandled, untrained or abused by owners. Pit Bulls are the breed of choice for people who fear the world or who want the world to fear them. These are abusive owners and the rest of us pay a heavy price for their bad attitude and ignorance.
A much stronger city ordinance that holds owners and alderman accountable is over due in Kenosha.

  14. The first video is hard to watch. That poor woman!! She’s probably going to nightmares for awhile. I hope they sue the hell out of the owners and have those dogs put down….it would be the best outcome for all involved. I don’t know if those dogs could be rehabilitated.

  15. This is crazy. But I’m also disturbed by the neighbor who films the attack rather than helping. I’m guessing he or she might be afraid to help but it still rubs me the wrong way that the person films rather than helps or calls 9-1-1. I’m hoping they Called 9-1-1 first.

  16. That’s why you always carry your weapon!!!! Deal with discharging in city limits after the dogs are dead !!!!!

  17. Way too many dense comments to touch on, so I’ll just say that as a {proud} pit owner myself for the past 9 years (and he was most definitely abused in his prior life – whatever that was, as I rescued him), this thread is a shining example of how the media and public opinion did a number on this breed. This story is disheartening for sure, but it’s the owners that clearly lack proper training and care – NOT the damn breed. I’m not going to waste anymore of my time with stats on the breed itself, but please educate yourselves. And don’t bother trying to debate with me either.

    12
  18. Pit Bulls can be very dangerous dogs. The problem is that you can never tell which one is going to rip your face off and which one is going to lick your face. I think putting a child or an elderly person near a Pit Bull is putting that person at risk because if a Pit Bull attacks the damage done is horrific. This should really be a child endangerment issue but it isn’t because of the sheer number of people who own and love pitt bull dogs; they don’t want restrictions, they don’t want liability and they don’t want blame when a person is maimed or killed.

    1. Yes, you can carry a gun – and protect yourself legally whilst taking care of the problem permanently. That’s the only solution here.
And people, do NOT ignore your city council elections – that’s how nutjobs that okayed the dangerous pits get back into office. Maybe the victims should run for the office!

      2
      1
  19. Pitbull owners are the least intelligent kind of people, I have learned. “PITIOTS” is what I call them. Seriously…bottom of the f’n barrel kind of folks. Trash.
All pitbulls should be put down…and their owners should be flown to the Sun.
