Rhyanon Mcnab posted on Facebook on September 5, 2024 that read “Ooo … I made the paper 🥰 .. again 💋 #Kenoshanews.” She would later comment “Uhmmmmm sorry but uh yea I look like a celebrity model 😍😍 the camera loves me and I love the camera 📸 😍

Kenosha News Article From 9/5/2024
(Fair Use)

With the post, she shared a 2-page full color fluff piece about her new eyelash business. Seems like good reporting from Kenosha News’ reporter Jillian Craig, right? Not so fast. Here’s the thing – Mcnab is a convicted felon. Not just any convicted felon, but a convicted looter during the Kenosha Riots of 2020 – a felony that us Kenoshans hate the most.

According to court documents, Mcnab was charged with Burglary of a Building or Dwelling, theft, and criminal damage to property for burglarizing a beauty store during the riots. The Kenosha DA’s office, who was very soft on the rioters, looters and others, dismissed the theft and criminal damage to property charges. They recommended probation after she was convicted of the Felony Burglary of “Uptown Beauty.” That’s what she got, probation. A year before the riots, a member of the community got a four-year harassment restraining order against Mcnab.

Mcnab also got herself over $20,0000 from the PPP (Covid Program)

According to the criminal complaint:

On Monday 8/24/20 at about 0746, Kenosha Police Officers responded to Uptown Beauty, 6136-22 Ave. in Kenosha for a burglary complaint. On arrival, they met with the owner, who stated that his store was entered several times between 0100 to 0500 on 08/24/2020. Entry was gained by breaking out the window in the entry door. A multitude of items were stolen, display cases were vandalized, two cash registers were pried open and a cabinet where cash was locked up was pried open, about $5000.00 was taken. The store has video surveillance footage of the incident.

A detective was assigned to the case and surveillance footage was analyzed. Another Kenosha Police Officer recognized Mcnab as one of the people who was carrying merchandise out of the store. In speaking with the owner of Uptown Beauty, he estimated the value of merchandise taken and damage done to be well in excess of $2,500 independently. Notwithstanding this dollar amount, Mcnab was only charged with misdemeanor theft, not felony theft as she should have been.

Mcnab plead guilty almost three years after the burglary and Judge Dougvillo allowed the plea deal and gave her only two years of probation. She has recently filed a motion with Dougvillo to end her probation early.

KCE contacted Kenosha News Editor John Sloca (D) by email and phone. He didn’t respond. KCE is told he supports the fluff piece because he believes in second chances. Second chances, maybe. But for the City’s only print Newspaper, to elevate and feature someone who burglarized items from a beauty store during the City’s worst time ever? Maybe she’s using some of the stolen items with her new business. Shame on the Kenosha News for this crap. While your rag still has a pulse, you still have an obligation to be ethical. Stop the madness and get an editor who isn’t “asleep as the wheel.” Sloca, you’re old and worn out, resign and let someone who cares take over your failing paper. Also, the time for Kenosha Judges’ rubber-stamping of over-generous pleas deals should come to an end. You should all be more like Judge Schroeder and jump deals.

      1. Kenosha would finally get some measure of justice. If only the rioters had destroyed property belonging to the DA and associates, maybe they’d know the pain.

  1. Kenosha News is the worst! You have to call them to unsubscribe and wait on hold to talk to people in India to do so.
    Such a rip off

    1. Really? You get someone from another country when you want to talk with someone at Kenosha News? That’s crazy! I only thought that companies outsource their calls when there are so many that they can’t handle the amount coming in. Unless it’s all NEGATIVE calls, I can’t imagine Kenosha News is getting that many calls! LOL We haven’t used KN for many years. We didn’t even accept the ones they used to try to GIVE away at the Super Value ( now Festival Foods) grocery store years ago.

    2. Exactly. The cancelation email address that they give you bounces. When you call and get India on the line, they make you an offer to try to get you to stay. They kept sweetening the offer and I just kept saying “cancel.” Took about 15 minutes.

  2. It would be great if Kenoshans had some idea of just how many 2020 rioters, arsonists, and looters that useless weasel Gravely either dropped all charges against or gave sweetheart plea deals to. If I owned Uptown Beauty and this woman opened a business where she could be using mech she stole from my store, I would be pissed off.

    1. Simple answer, all the rioters had their charges dropped or lowered to simple ordinance violations. Most if not all of the ones who had actual misdemeanors, had their charges expunged from their records. Therefore, the destruction of the city “never happened”. Pathetic.

      1. Yes, these types of soft on crime policies has also allowed for the pastor from
Grace Lutheran church who was a protester and was arrested on a state charge of which the DA’s office lowered to a Ticket to team
Up with Kenosha Unified school district and his followers , some whom are teachers . Which allows him to be brought into the school and in addition. to bring the kids to his church. Makes you wonder what side they all are really on. Teaching the kids well. From a man who helped influence more damage to the city and to unified property, in addition to putting our public servants in harms way. .I Wonder if most of the parents understand his involvement. I know there are school board members who know and do not care.

  11. Sloca is the worst! He needs to be let out into the pasture. Very common of him not to respond because he does not care! 6

    1. It’s really a shame how the paper has gone downhill. I also received the Racine Journal Times until recently. Page for page, the two were identical except for a couple of pages of local news. When I called to cancel, they offered to cut the subscription rate. I said no thanks. They offered to cut it even further. No thanks. Then they asked how much I would be willing to pay. Just cancel it please.

The Kenosha News used to be full of Kenosha’s news. Birth announcements, divorces, real estate transfers, the long-dead Court Report that would update us on the more serious cases going through the courts, and other articles of varied local interest. Those are all gone. The News is owned by a big corporation, Lee Enterprises, that puts out boilerplate news with a few tweaks for each locality. I guess print newspapers are of a bygone era now.

  12. You should do a story on COVID PPP Loans. For example, Chiappetta Shoes received nearly $250k in loans that were all forgiven. So they used the money to build a new store, another Italian family from Kenosha scamming the system. As if they really missed out on $250k in sales during the COVID lockdowns.

    10

        1. You clearly have NO idea of what you are talking about.
The Madrigrano family has donated more money to good causes in this community and gotten community projects done for decades.
Probably more money than you ever made in your pitiful existence. You should be ashamed of yourself.

          1
          9
          1. Holy fuck the arrogance of you Italians, are you all snobs? Take your donations and shove them up your ass. Who is in charge of the Boys and Girls Club? Isn’t he a convinced felon for tax fraud?

          2. Yeah but where is that money coming from?

Laundered cash from shady dealings. Bribes. What else is Kenosha’s Little Italy up to?

    1. Chiappetta Shoes availed themselves of a government offer. If you have a problem with that (and you sure seem to), take it up with your representatives–if you even know who they are.

When this program was announced, it was an obvious boondoggle, but Chiappetta Shoes did nothing illegal. (Eric Hovde’s family got a LOT more that was forgiven and had a LOT more money to begin with, i.e., did not need the loans at all. Their loans were all forgiven.)

The subject person of this article is not even Italian, so why are you dragging Kenosha’s Italian community into this and trying to smear them?

      2
      1
      1. “The purpose of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was to help small businesses keep their employees on payroll during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Please, where the FUCK does it state in there that the PPP loan is supposed to be used to build a newly upgraded store? It is so easy to call out the Italian community as the majority of you are crooks, racist pieces of shit that would sell their mother out for a dollar.

      1. My kids don’t go to KUSD, because I love them and know that they deserve better than a two-bit, bottom-of-the-list, admin-heavy, joke of a school system 😂

    1. The only people affected by this are the kids. Teachers are already woefully underequipped in the classroom. And they frequently pay for their own supplies.

Don’t punish our kids because of KUSD’s corruption.

      1. If a child is errantly spending money, you don’t keep giving them money. You stop giving them money and teach them to make do with what they have.

You people that think that this is only going to hurt the kids are obviously better at complaining than actually taking action.

If you really love your children, and want them to receive a quality education, pull them out of KUSD PERMANENTLY.

  20. I’ve sat here a few days thinking . I told my daughter not to respond to the attack on her character by responding to her accuser.
“Sometimes silence is the loudest voice”
Then I thought .. I’m her mom… it’s my job to protect and defend her, so here is my response
    Mr. Mathewson
    First…your facts are incorrect
Second…your using a horrific attack on our city against my daughter
third… you accused her of profiting from her brothers death to start her business
Her brother , my son, died in the city jail
Still today, years later we have no cause of death or reason for his death. No law suit was filed, no money received. All we have is our grief over losing someone we loved.
Her success came from hard work, determination and the ability to look past the negativity towards her because she’s a young, smart, gifted beautiful woman .
She rose above and gives back to her family, friends and community. More than you’ll ever know
She is loved and supported by her family, friends and clients.
Your attack shows more about who you are.
I could throw your life mistakes at you— but to what purpose
You’ve made yourself known on your own
    I’ll pray for you
I’m a PROUD mom of a beautiful, successful, honorable young woman and human being
Rhyanon Mcnab is more than deserving of everything she’s achieved .

    1. I’m sorry you raised two convicted felons, one convicted of burglary once, and the other twice. Not my fault. And help me please, where did I write that your son’s death helped her business? I’ve met Annie many times. She is a sweet girl who made a bad decision and should be held accountable. I don’t hate her.

      58
      1
    2. There might be a different response if the paper gave all true facts and ran it as a “second chance in life” apologetic for past experiences, apology given to the victims of her crimes. No it is a fluff piece that overlooks her past crimes. I would not consider this person as honorable. I know of many honorable young men and women in Kenosha who are struggling, who have student loans, who did not commit crimes, who did not get a 20k covid loan and should be role models for young women in our community. This might be a good second chance story if the truth was given up front and she has shown remorse for her past behavior. My kids are honorable, the do not have criminal records, they do no commit burglary, they do not steal. Not sure why she is more deserving of 20K and a full spread newspaper add than many other young honorable adults in Kenosha who deserve a big writeup.

        1. Public records tell a different story than the newspaper along with the dictionary, not personal, definition of honorable. If you want to put yourself out there as an outstanding citizen, go ahead. But when public records show a different story, then own up to it. That is what an honorable person would do.

        2. If you did not want your dirty laundry put out for all to see then maybe you should have reconsidered a full spread add in the newspaper.

    3. Shame on Kenosha News. Do you really think Kenosha News had the best interest for your daughter? Do you really think they did this for her benefit ? No, Kenosha News uses people to fill and sell the paper. Who is feeling the backlash? Not the paper. Do you think Kenosha News cares that people are fact checking and calling out the story? Nope. Now you are angry and blaming the people who have every right to fact check an article. Citizens have a right to call out the newspaper for writing a fluff story, your daughter went along with it and now the bigger picture is out there.

      1. Just because someone points out facts does not equal hate. That is the type of nonsense that Kenosha News feeds on. You on the other hand are spewing a lot of assumptions , not facts.

    4. Wrong, your daughter stole over $40,000 dollars in PPP loans. She also looted a local business which just happens to be the same type of business she just opened. And then the dummy flaunted all the money on social media with vacations, expensive bags and veneers. Her best friend and x boyfriend also got $40,000 and everyone knows the don’t have a business. Sorry, but your daughter is a thief and bad person who will be paying for her sins when the government catches her

    5. Hey she a hoe and everything that came to her she got! Should’ve been her in that county jail! She is worthless a penny with a hole in it. She should do us all a favor and Eid!

  21. Sounds like you all have nothing better to do than to hate. I have witnessed My friend work HARD to accomplish what she has where yall sitting at your miserable jobs living miserable lives hating behind a screen. We love to pray on someone mistakes instead of recognizing hard work growth and change. You all need to take a long look in the mirror because if we aired out your dirty laundry I’m sure it would stink just as bad
