KENOSHA, Wis. – A 39-year-old Kenosha woman with a prior felony conviction for assaulting a police officer is back in court, this time accused of kicking another officer during a disorderly conduct call outside a daiquiri bar in the city’s uptown.
Dominique M. Davis was charged Friday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with one felony count of battery to a law enforcement officer, with a repeater enhancer due to a previous conviction for the same offense. If convicted, Davis faces up to 10 years in prison.
The charge stems from an incident on the evening of Thursday, May 29, when officers were dispatched to S’Lush Daiquiri Bar and Grill at 2200 60th Street. According to the criminal complaint, employees called police after Davis was asked to leave and allegedly began shouting obscenities and threatening violence. Staff told officers she had been refused service because she appeared intoxicated and then began calling patrons and employees “bitches,” challenging them to come outside and fight.
Officer Joshua Aquino, who responded in full uniform and a marked squad car, reported Davis was visibly intoxicated, slurring her speech and unable to maintain her balance. He learned through dispatch that Davis was on active supervision with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and contacted after-hours probation and parole staff, who authorized a probation hold.
As Officer Aquino attempted to search Davis prior to transport, he says she repeatedly pulled her body away and demanded to know why she was being arrested. Aquino informed her it was for the probation hold and began a standard groin sweep search. According to the complaint, Davis responded by forcefully kicking backward with her right leg, striking Aquino just above his right knee. Aquino reported the kick caused pain and was clearly intentional.
“There’s your groin sweep,” Davis allegedly said after striking the officer.
Davis was placed in the back of a squad car and transported to the Kenosha County Jail. Officers noted that she remained verbally and physically uncooperative with jail staff and had to be housed in a separate cell.
Prosecutors added a repeater allegation to the charge based on Davis’ 2020 conviction for felony battery to a public officer. That incident also involved a Kenosha Police officer and occurred less than five years ago, allowing for an enhanced penalty.
Court Commissioner William Michel II set bail at $10,000 cash during Friday’s hearing. Davis remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on June 6.
