WHEATLAND, Wis. — A 61-year-old Wheatland man is facing three misdemeanor charges after allegedly pointing a shotgun at a passing motorcyclist while under the influence of alcohol on Memorial Day.
Lance Lee Lameer was charged Tuesday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with disorderly conduct, pointing a firearm at another, and possession of a firearm while intoxicated—all with dangerous weapon enhancers. He appeared in court on a summons, and Commissioner William Michel II ordered his previously posted $1,150 cash bail continued. A pretrial hearing is set for July 11.
According to the criminal complaint, deputies responded around 5:11 p.m. on May 26 to a report that a man had aimed a shotgun at a motorcyclist in the Wheatland Estates mobile home park. The caller said the man, later identified as Lameer, had made a “come here” gesture before raising a shotgun in the direction of the rider—identified as Richard Brown—as he passed on his motorcycle.
Deputies located Lameer at his trailer, #127, where he admitted to being annoyed by the noise of motorcycles but denied pointing a weapon. He confirmed owning a camouflage shotgun, which was later found under his bed.
Deputies noted Lameer smelled of alcohol and had glossy eyes. He reportedly told them he had been drinking and “might not recall” what happened.
Lameer’s wife, Jeanette Burns, acknowledged that her husband brought out the shotgun in response to a dispute with neighbors but insisted he didn’t point it at anyone. Surveillance footage from the home showed Lameer stepping outside with the shotgun before being confronted by Burns, who yelled at him to put it away.
Deputies retrieved the firearm—a Mossberg 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun—and took Lameer into custody. The weapon was unloaded, but one live round was found nearby.
If convicted on all counts with the dangerous weapon enhancers, Lameer faces up to 30 months in jail and $21,000 in fines.
