KENOSHA, Wis. – A 47-year-old Kenosha man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he grabbed a woman by the neck, tried to prevent her from calling police, and took her handgun during a domestic dispute over the weekend.
Waymond Moronte Parker was formally charged Wednesday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with felony intimidation of a victim and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, both with domestic abuse assessments.
According to the criminal complaint, the woman told police she had been living with Parker in a home near the 6500 block of 15th Avenue but was in the process of moving out. On Saturday, July 5, she reportedly came downstairs and saw Parker with another woman, sparking an argument.
She said she attempted to collect her belongings, including a handgun she believed to be hers. When she picked up the gun from Parker’s room, he allegedly grabbed it from her, pushed her onto the bed, then forcibly pushed her out of the room by her neck.
The woman told officers Parker then followed her upstairs, grabbed her phone as she tried to call police, threw it to the ground, and later dragged her toward the front door by her neck and shoulders, demanding she leave and hand over the house keys.
She was not physically injured but reported being frightened by the encounter. Her two firearms remained in the residence.
Parker appeared in court Wednesday and is due back for a preliminary hearing on July 25. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison on the felony charge.
