KENOSHA, Wis. — A 28-year-old Kenosha man with a lengthy domestic abuse history was charged Tuesday with nine counts, including attempted burglary and multiple counts of felony and misdemeanor bail jumping, after police say he twice tried to force his way into an ex-girlfriend’s home in the early morning hours of Aug. 9.

(Kenosha County Sheriff)
Jonah D. Ross is accused of attempting to break into the woman’s 31st Avenue residence while prohibited from contacting her under two active bonds. Prosecutors allege Ross also violated bail conditions by consuming alcohol and possessing cocaine. According to the criminal complaint, Ross was seen banging on windows, manipulating the front door, and later hanging halfway through an open window before leaving when police were called.
The woman told officers she feared Ross and that both of his pending cases — one felony, one misdemeanor — included no-contact orders with her. Ross has prior convictions for disorderly conduct and battery in domestic abuse cases and can be sentenced as both a repeater and a domestic abuse repeater.
Two days later, on Aug. 11, officers spotted Ross driving a silver Jaguar. When stopped, police say he falsely denied his identity before being recognized by a distinctive facial tattoo. He was arrested and cited for driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance.
Ross faces charges of attempted burglary, three counts of felony bail jumping, four counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, disorderly conduct (domestic abuse), and obstructing an officer. Court Commissioner William Michel II set bail at $10,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 19, 2025.
