SOMERS, Wis. — A Village of Somers Public Works employee has been charged with multiple domestic abuse offenses after an August 20 incident at his home led to a felony case.

Tyler A. Remus, 34, appeared in court Thursday and was charged with felony intimidation of a victim, along with misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and two counts of disorderly conduct, all with domestic abuse modifiers. The most serious charge, felony intimidation of a victim, carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, deputies were called to Remus’ Somers residence after a 911 hang-up. Investigators say Remus confronted his spouse about suspected infidelity, grabbed her arm, and at one point took away her phone while she attempted to call 911. The complaint also alleges Remus forced his way into a garage where his spouse had sought refuge, damaging the door in the process. Deputies documented a bruise on the victim’s arm and learned of an earlier incident on August 6 in which Remus allegedly grabbed her while intoxicated.

During Thursday’s court appearance, Commissioner Lisa Bouterse ordered a $1,000 cash bail. Assistant District Attorney Toni Young argued for cash bail, calling the allegations “a quintessence of classic domestic abuse” and noting that felony charges require a cash component. The victim, present in court, told the judge she was “OK with contact and would like a signature bond.”

Court records indicate Remus has prior convictions for disorderly conduct and battery. He has worked for the Village of Somers Public Works department for two years. KCE reached out to the Village of Somers about his status and the Village had no comment.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 29.
