Former County Supervisor Andy “Sergeant Hard” Berg Launches GoFundMe, Blames Ex-Wife, DA, And Admits “Decisions” Led To Arrest

KENOSHA, Wis. — Just days after being charged in a sweeping drug and gun case, former County Board Supervisor and former Corrections Sergeant Andy “Sergeant Hard” Berg has created a GoFundMe campaign seeking money for legal fees — and it is already raising eyebrows across Kenosha County.

Andy “Sgt. Hard” Berg, 47, of Kenosha
(Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office)

In the fundraiser description, Berg openly admits that the charges stem from choices he and his co-defendant made, writing that over the past four months, “my girlfriend and I made some decisions that led to us being arrested.” The statement reads like an acknowledgment that his actions led to his legal trouble, not a claim of being falsely accused.

However, instead of taking responsibility, Berg then pivots to blaming others. He points the finger at his ex-wife, claiming the situation ties back to child support disputes and tutoring costs. He also blames the Kenosha County District Attorney, suggesting there is “vindictiveness” driving the prosecution.

But that narrative doesn’t align with reality.

The case against Berg was not initiated by the District Attorney’s Office. Rather, the investigation was conducted by the Kenosha Drug Operations Group (KDOG), a specialized law enforcement task force that handles serious narcotics cases. Prosecutors only became involved once the case was developed and referred for charging.

In the GoFundMe post, Berg portrays himself as a victim of circumstance and court rulings, claiming child support stress forced him into bad decisions. He writes about missing his daughter, noting a court-ordered no-contact restriction, and asks the public to contribute funds to help him “have the charges dismissed or at least lowered.”

Meanwhile, donors have not exactly lined up. As of publication, the fundraiser has brought in just $50 toward an $8,000 goal.

Community Reaction: “Flagged” And Questioned

Kenosha County Eye has received numerous tips from readers drawing attention to the fundraiser. Multiple people report flagging the GoFundMe campaign as inappropriate based on the platform’s stated policies. Whether GoFundMe will take any action is unknown. Critics note the platform is commonly viewed as politically left-leaning and often slow or unwilling to take down controversial fundraisers.

(Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office)

Berg Out, Girlfriend Still In Jail

Despite portraying himself as financially desperate, Berg’s father, Walter Berg, stepped in and posted Berg’s $75,000 cash bail — allowing Berg to walk out of jail pending court proceedings.

His girlfriend and alleged co-defendant, however, remains behind bars on the same $75,000 bail even though her criminal exposure is significantly lower. The imbalance has not gone unnoticed.

Will Judge Kerkman Donate Too?

One question already circulating in the community is whether Berg’s longtime close friend, Deputy Chief Judge Chad Kerkman, will support this fundraiser. Kerkman has previously contributed financially to Berg-related ventures, including Berg’s former “Garden of Eatin” nonprofit — a project later tied to theft allegations.

Whether Kerkman will reach for his wallet this time remains to be seen.

For now, Berg is free, his girlfriend sits in jail, his fundraiser is being flagged, and the criminal case against him continues. Berg returns to court December 26 for a preliminary hearing.

If all his friends chip in, you’ll just have a higher bail next time, and there will be a next time. Let’s see how long it takes for his dad loses his bail money.

  8. Maybe chance to bring John Steinbrick jr. Will donate. After all he stoled all that money from the village of Pleasant prairie. Maybe his dad should also donate. They were friends of Andy Berg also.

  9. Only a low life criminal like him would beg for money and play victim. Didn’t pay child support, had a child in the home while selling drugs and guns to felons, yet cries in the go fund me about how great of a dad. You berg are the epitome of a professional victim.

  10. You see how caputo and Niccolai were all over the Kenosha county da page when they posted berg story? It’s insane how the left cries accountability but supports their own criminals. Hypocrites. All of em
