SOMERS, Wis. — Voters in the Village of Somers and the Town of Somers will see quiet spring elections this year, with no contested races and every incumbent seeking another term.
In the Village of Somers, all three incumbent trustees are running unopposed, meaning no challengers filed nomination papers for any of the seats up for election. Those incumbents include Karl Ostby, Ben Harbach, and Joe Smith. With no opposition on the ballot, all three are positioned to retain their seats for another term, barring any write-in campaigns.
The lack of contested races means voters in the village will not see any trustee primaries or competitive races on the spring ballot, continuing a recent trend of low electoral competition at the municipal level.
As a side note, the same is true in the Town of Somers. James Arms, the incumbent town official up for election this cycle, is also running unopposed. No challengers filed paperwork to contest the seat, ensuring the town race will likewise be decided without competition.
With all incumbents running uncontested in both the Village and Town of Somers, the spring election will largely be procedural for local government, offering continuity in leadership but little opportunity for voters to choose between competing visions or candidates.
