TWIN LAKES, Wis. — Glenda Susanna “Sue” (Seng) Dupons was a familiar and respected presence across western Kenosha County for decades, someone whose influence stretched from classrooms to boardrooms and whose reputation was built as much on personal warmth as professional success. Her death on Jan. 12, 2026, in Milwaukee at the age of 78 marked the loss of a woman many considered a cornerstone of the community.
According to her obituary, Dupons was born March 28, 1947, in Ferdinand, Indiana, the daughter of Wilhelm Joseph Seng and Mathilda Frances Seng. The obituary describes her as “an incredible mother, Gigi, and wife, and a friend to all those who know her,” noting that she possessed “a tenacity for life and generosity that could not be matched.” Those descriptions closely mirror how she was known locally, as someone driven, compassionate, and deeply invested in the people around her.
Dupons first made her mark in education. According to her obituary, she taught at Central High School in Paddock Lake, where she not only worked in the classroom but helped shape the school’s extracurricular landscape. During her teaching career, she received the “Teacher of the Year” award and “started the gymnastics program,” an effort that expanded opportunities for students and left a lasting imprint on the school. Former students often remember her as a teacher who demanded effort but gave unwavering support in return.
Her career later shifted into real estate, where her influence grew even wider. According to her obituary, Dupons served as the managing broker, president, and owner of Bear Realty. In that role, she became a trusted figure throughout western Kenosha County, known for what the obituary calls her “business acumen and genuine care for her clients.” Those close to her say she approached real estate not simply as a business, but as a service, helping families navigate major life transitions with patience and honesty.
The foundation for her professional life was built at Carthage College, where, according to her obituary, she earned her bachelor’s degree. Learning remained a constant theme throughout her life. The obituary notes that Dupons was “an avid golfer, a passionate reader, and a talented writer,” interests that reflected her curiosity and her appreciation for both activity and reflection. Friends say she found equal joy on the golf course, with a book in hand, or putting her thoughts into words.
Despite her professional accomplishments, family was always at the center of her life. According to her obituary, Dupons is survived by her husband, Arthur James “Butch” Dupons, and their daughters, Adora Marie Ellis and Margaret Emmaline Dupons. She was a devoted grandmother, known as “Gigi,” to Scott Lyall and Jack Arthur Ellis. The obituary states that “her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, each moment cherished, each memory treasured.” She is also survived by her brother, David Seng, and was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Fischer.
Those who knew Dupons describe her influence as steady and far-reaching rather than loud or self-promotional. She moved seamlessly between roles, educator, business leader, mentor, mother, grandmother, and friend, bringing the same sense of care and integrity to each. According to her obituary, “her love for life was infectious, drawing those around her into her warmth, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of many.”
Community members will have an opportunity to gather in her honor in the place she called home for so many years. According to her obituary, an “Open House” visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 620 Legion Drive in Twin Lakes. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 19, at noon at the same location.
In western Kenosha County, Glenda Susanna “Sue” Dupons is remembered not only for the positions she held, but for the countless lives she touched along the way, through teaching, leadership, generosity, and an enduring commitment to her community.
