KENOSHA, Wis. — A Kenosha man convicted of his fifth operating while intoxicated offense was sentenced yesterday by Judge Heather Iverson to prison, though the court ordered the sentence to run concurrent to time he is already serving in Racine County for a separate fourth-offense OWI, significantly limiting any additional prison exposure despite a long list of felony convictions and dismissed charges.

Jonathan M. Strange, 43, of Kenosha, appeared in Kenosha County Circuit Court and pled guilty to felony 5th OWI and two counts of felony bail jumping stemming from a March 2024 arrest. Iverson imposed a four-year prison sentence on the OWI conviction, including, with credit for 628 days already served. The prison sentence was ordered to run concurrent to a Racine County prison sentence of two years Strange is currently serving for a fourth-offense OWI.
As a result, Strange’s three-felony conviction in the Kenosha case — including the OWI fifth offense and two felony bail jumping counts — combined with the substantial amount of time he has already served in custody, is expected to add only a few days to his overall prison sentence, if it adds any additional time at all.

Not just how but WHY ??
I thought these 1st, 2nd and all the other drunk arrest penalties were decided by our legislators in Madison just for examples like this ? Mandatory minimums at each offense ?!?
If as we all know, jail or prison sentences are supposed to be not just punishment but a deterrent to continued criminal behavior, what’s the point here ??
As mentioned in the story, this 5th offense driving drunk and other offenses now means virtually nothing in the laws of continued drunk driving for this guy.
He committed these offenses while already on bond/bail for the 4th offense. Why was he on bail ?
But more importantly, what does this say about this judge ? I thought we had a good one here ?!?
This was a slam dunk ! What am I missing ?
No all the facts about his case or how he was targeted by an officer because of issues with his wife before you state your opinions
I actually appreciate judge Angelina Gabriele, I had 3 DUI’s and she gave me almost 1 year total. As much as I hated it, it made me learn my lesson. Illinois didn’t do shit for my first two and she made sure I felt the pain for the 3rd… they should learn from her, this is a light sentence for a 5th.
Jason fuckface Barnhill, is that you?
They should just take his eyes out, then he cannot drive at all.
Say that to him
Concurrent???
How stupid an idea is that??
Maybe I can buy a new car and get the one next to it for free by paying “concurrent”.
Actually she gave him 4 years, credit for 22 months, so 26 months left to serve. Also denied him a prison treatment program that would have let him get out earlier on his Racine case, effectively adding at least another year to the 26 months.
I worked with this guy 20 years ago. I’m surprised he doesn’t have 10+ DUIs/OWIs. He was a mess then and clearly still a mess now. Sad part is I think he has children. What a looser. I’m curious of what his Illinois criminal record is. He was drunk driving back then in the early 2000s and residing in Illinois.
