KENOSHA, Wis. — Kenosha Unified School District will host its annual districtwide Black History Bee on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium at Mahone Middle School, 6900 60th St.
After spending the month of February studying the lives and legacies of 50 influential Black Americans, fourth- and fifth-grade students will first compete in school-level bees on Tuesday, March 3. One student from each elementary school will then advance to represent their school in the districtwide competition.
The Black History Bee is designed to test more than memorization. Students are challenged to demonstrate an understanding of the historical figures who have shaped the nation through leadership, innovation, activism, the arts, science, and public service.
In addition to the academic competition, fourth- and fifth-grade students across the district have participated in Black History Art and Writing contests. Selected winners will be recognized for their creative work during the March 5 event.

The first legally recognized slave owner in the US was black (fact check it). When the US formed the country of Liberia (in Africa) it was to send the African descendants back to their homeland and have a familiar type of place with buildings and they could form their own government/rules.
They went back and created their own classes and slavery, and indentured servants.
I believe this is an excellent idea. I would be proud of any student who takes part. Understanding the history of all Americans is essential—it is woven into the very fabric of our country. It only makes us stronger as a nation.
So you would be okay with a White History Bee? Because, if you would not, that kind of makes you a racist….
Thats called a History Bee…… we would not have a need for a Black history bee if the contributions of Black people were acknowledged and taught properly as part of US History.
Not really if you think about

Trains, planes, cars, rockets, telescopes, tires, telephones, radios, television, electricity, atomic energy, computers, and fax machines. All
miracles made possible by the minds and spirits of men with names like
Ampere, Bell, Caselli, Edison, Ohm, Faraday, Einstein, Cohen, Teller,
Shockley, Hertz, Marconi, Morse, Popov. Ford, Volta, Michelin, Dunlop,
Watt, Diesel, Galileo, and other “dead white males.”
And don’t at me with the pyramids. Egypt is part of the Mediterranean, not Sub Saharan Africa. Go back to Wakanda with that bs.
