
KENOSHA, Wis. — The Kenosha Unified School District will host its 63rd Annual Orchestra Festival on Saturday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Indian Trail High School and Academy, 6800 60th St., bringing together nearly 1,400 student musicians from across the district .
The long-running event will feature elementary, middle and high school orchestra students performing in a large-scale celebration of string music. Tickets for the festival are already sold out, but the district will stream the performance live on its YouTube channel. Community members without tickets may also watch the live stream free of charge inside the Indian Trail auditorium .
This year’s guest conductor is Dr. James Mick, professor of music education at Ithaca College in New York. Mick teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in string pedagogy, orchestral rehearsal techniques, instrumental conducting, and the psychology of music teaching and learning. He will visit secondary schools on March 19 and 20 to rehearse with orchestra ensembles ahead of the performance .
Participating schools include Bradford High School, Bullen Middle School, Harborside Academy/Lakeview Academy, Indian Trail High School and Academy, Lakeview K-8, Lance Middle School, Mahone Middle School, Tremper High School, Ruth Harman Academy, Washington Middle School, and district elementary orchestra programs .
The annual festival is one of the district’s largest fine arts events and highlights the scope of its orchestra program across grade levels.
