Franksville, Wis. – A 14-year-old boy is being held on a $1 million cash bond after being charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide in connection with the brutal stabbing death of his mother.
Reed Gelinskey appeared in court today following his arrest on March 4, when authorities responded to a distressing Snapchat message he allegedly sent to a friend, confessing to the crime.
Disturbing Discovery
According to the criminal complaint, officers from the Caledonia Police Department were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. to a residence on White Manor Court after a concerned individual reported receiving Snapchat photos from Gelinskey. The images allegedly showed a female victim lying on her back and blood on the floor. The messages indicated he had killed his mother and needed help.
When officers arrived, they encountered Gelinskey exiting the home. He allegedly dropped a kitchen knife at the front stoop and made statements urging officers to kill him, repeatedly saying, “She is dead from what I did.”
Inside the residence, police found the victim, identified as SG, unresponsive in the foyer with multiple stab wounds. Life-saving measures by officers and paramedics were unsuccessful, and SG was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators recovered two bloodied kitchen knives and a silver dumbbell bar, which Gelinskey allegedly used to attack his mother.
Chilling Confession
During police interviews, Gelinskey reportedly admitted to premeditating the murder. He told detectives that he had been experiencing depression and had been using his brother’s anxiety medication to get high. On the night of the attack, he said he watched a documentary about the Menendez Brothers, which inspired him to develop a plan to kill his parents.
According to the complaint, Gelinskey initially planned to kill his father upon his return from work but could not find a hammer large enough. He then turned his focus to his mother.
Gelinskey allegedly lured SG downstairs under the pretense of searching for his medication. As she turned away, he struck her twice in the head with a dumbbell bar but was surprised when she did not immediately collapse. He then threw her to the ground and stabbed her multiple times.
In his statement, Gelinskey claimed his mother asked him, “Why?” before he responded, “Pain.”
After the attack, Gelinskey contacted a friend via Snapchat, instructing her to call the police. He remained inside the home until he heard sirens and then stepped outside, where officers took him into custody.
Legal Proceedings
SG’s preliminary autopsy determined the cause of death to be multiple sharp-force injuries to the chest, resulting in severe internal bleeding.
Gelinskey, who is being charged as an adult, is scheduled to appear in court on March 7 at 1:30 p.m.
If convicted, he faces a mandatory life sentence.

This world has become a very dark place. I cant even imagine what led up to this kid doing something like this. There are more and more stories like this across the nation whether it involves a kid or an adult. Look at the kindergartener who shot his teacher!
How sad that this young man couldn’t get the help he needed! I have suffered from depression for years and not once have I ever thought about killing anyone! These types of people have to have some sort of psychological issues, that would allow them to do such a thing!!!
