Kenosha, Wis. – A group of parents at Washington Middle School within the Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) are voicing their outrage after learning that one of their children’s teachers, Alyssa L. Jurasik, 24, has a criminal record involving drug-related offenses. Despite being placed on paid administrative leave on February 21, 2025, following inquiries by Kenosha County Eye (KCE), Jurasik is set to return to the classroom on Monday, March 17, 2025—fueling even greater frustration among parents.

Jurasik’s Criminal History

Jurasik’s legal troubles date back to February 24, 2023, when she was charged with serious drug-related offenses, including Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place On or Near a Park, Possession With Intent to Deliver THC, and Possession of Narcotic Drugs On or Near Certain Places. Had she been convicted of all charges, she could have faced nearly 30 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Jurasik was linked to a major narcotics operation at a residence in Kenosha. A U.S. Postal Service inspector alerted the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department (KSD) to a suspicious package originating from Las Vegas, NV, and addressed to Jurasik’s fiancé, Christian Melendez. The package, which emitted a strong odor of marijuana, led authorities to uncover extensive evidence of drug distribution, including text messages between Jurasik and Melendez discussing sales, payments, and drug shipments.

Authorities discovered over 560 grams of marijuana and other controlled substances in their residence, as well as drug paraphernalia and a loaded firearm. Digital forensic analysis of Melendez’s phone revealed conversations between him and Jurasik detailing drug transactions and attempts to ship narcotics across state lines.

One particularly disturbing text exchange revealed that Jurasik believed one of her customers had overdosed and died. In a message to Melendez, Jurasik wrote, “A kid at Carthage OD’d last night and it was one of my customers. I’m doing great.” Melendez responded by asking what the person overdosed on and if she was okay, to which Jurasik replied, “The amount of drugs I’ve done should have killed me, but like, it killed my friend instead. I just don’t understand why it happens.”

Despite the weight of the evidence, the Kenosha County District Attorney’s office, led by then-DA Mike Graveley (D), allowed Jurasik to take a plea deal. She pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of THC, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Judge Gerad Dougvillo sentenced her to just one year of probation, which she is still serving.

KUSD Responds

In response to KCE’s inquiry, KUSD confirmed Jurasik’s return to Washington Middle School but provided no information about how the decision was made.

At KUSD, it isn’t uncommon for teachers who commit crimes to keep their jobs. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) hasn’t responded to multiple inquiries.

KENOSHA, Wis. – Brittany R. 1. So they fire a teacher for controlling a little brat but they keep this one on payroll who killed a kid, WTF is wrong with KUSD?

    1. Agree with you and think deserved more than 1 year probation. To many people in Kenosha dealing and doing drugs and getting slap on the wrist

  2. That’s why too many parents have lost their faith in that School System. Always unreasonably unfair and beyond corrupt ! Would you trust this school system with your Children ?? We know there is integrity and characters issues within that School District

    1. She didn’t need be free. Selling drugs to college students and/or younger, idk if should be allowed around kids supposed to be seeing good examples for

  3. So we are really going to target her for owning up to her mistakes and changing her life around at 22 but most of you people sit behind a screen and have probably done worse? Got it.

    1. When you’re in charge of kids, yes you need to be held to a higher standard. She needs to be fired and find a new career path.

    2. If by “turning her life around” you mean being caught selling and using drugs—sufficient to cause an overdose, according to her own texts—and accepting a plea deal to avoid prison, then yes, I believe scrutinizing her employment at a school is appropriate.

By your logic, we should allow Christian Enwright back into the classroom, provided he promises not to engage in inappropriate behavior with students.

    3. Owning up is different from only telling AFTER you get caught. She’s a drug dealer just like the guys involved. She doesn’t need a lighter sentence because she’s female.

      1. She did not plead guilty to the REAL charges. She plead DOWN. Some act like this was a long time ago. The mug shot was less than a year ago. She is sorry alright. Sorry she got caught.

    1. Seriously you need to check your attitude towards people. Commentary like that is what makes you sound like a very dumb human. She is young and dumb but she does not need to be in a school teaching kids anything, she clearly has lots to learn herself. Me being a parent will never allow her to be around my kids.

      1. The thing that makes me the most angry is that there are so many GREAT teachers at Washington and she puts a black mark on them all.

  4. Teachers supposed to be out there setting good examples for the children they are teaching, not or there seeking drugs to kids and college students. Idk if would want my son around someone been distributing drugs, found the evidence on her phone admitting to selling to someone that OD’d and yet got nothing but probation and keeps teaching.

    1. The fact she’s still got her job is proof that KUSD is totally broken, a hell-hole,…we need private school vouchers now to get our kids away from these monsters. No one should be forced to spend time with the likes of her,…especially innocent and impressionable children that have no choice.

      1. This is the sad situation these courts and prosecutors are giving us. They are ignoring our laws, charging and sentencing when it comes to drug users and dealers. A court official in Kenosha recently ignored a party refusing to take a drug test they were ordered to take, as they knew they would fail. That is contempt of court for one thing. It pertains to a child, yet the official put the using dealer’s best interest over the child’s. They are making decisions against our laws and endangering children and others, as we continue to see daily. Yet promote drug use and sales by ignoring our laws and letting these people continue business as usual.

  5. Obviously the mafia controls the court system and their interests. That is a nation wide fact. Judges, Clerks, “Justices” and Administrators are the real criminals. A forensic audit, following the facts, evidence and money with out fear or favor, would find fraud.
On Feb 27, 2019 a Kenosha cop assisted a heroin addict (my brother) in smashing our front door window to gain access! I called KPD for a supervisor who laughed and refused to come. The dirty cop/dealer then entertained the idea of having me removed by lawfare, taking the addict and daughter to file a false report. The case went before judge Wilks who dismissed it for want of fidelity, integrity, Evidence.
The Courts and Cops appear to be scourge.
Why are we not seeing prosecutions for drug possession by the bi-polar parties who use more drugs than the labor force ???

  6. Fire Weiss to start with and go on from there–seems like a good chunk of KUSD are pedophiles and drug addicts

  7. Yeah, not to mention that she has already received notoriety from the press and in that school. She is now going to be pegged as the “cool teacher” by the students. Thats messed up! Because at that impressionable, age is when they really need a good role models and she is not.

  8. Well, if she’s not going to be fired or locked up, why the hell should we pay her to kick back at home, with pay? Give her some more rope, and tell your kids not to buy anything from the bad teacher.

  9. KUSD absolutely sucks at hiring/firing these teachers. What happened to caring about the children? Start at the top and clean house. Everyone needs to go.

  10. again, the same as the other person said, you will fire a teacher trying to control a child and keep her safe, but you will keep this Drug dealing teacher what the heck is going on here, this needs to stop people!!!
