SOMERS, Wis. — A 61-year-old Somers man is facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting his elderly housemate and refusing to cooperate with sheriff’s deputies during a chaotic arrest at a deteriorating home in the Town of Somers.
Nick W. Picazo was formally charged Friday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with felony physical abuse of an elder person—intentionally causing bodily harm. He also faces misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer. Court Commissioner William Michel II set bail at $1,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 27.
According to the criminal complaint, deputies responded to a home on 38th Street Thursday evening after a 65-year-old man reported being slapped, pinned down, and having his hair pulled out by Picazo, who allegedly returned home intoxicated and enraged over food and household issues.
Deputies described the residence as “deplorable,” with no running water or electricity and a pervasive odor of urine. The man, who walks with a cane, said he feared for his safety and did not consent to the assault. He was transported to Froedtert South for evaluation.
When deputies attempted to arrest Picazo, he reportedly became belligerent, refused commands, slurred his speech, and eventually used “dead weight” tactics to prevent being escorted to a squad car. At one point, deputies said his pants fell to his ankles as he shouted bizarre phrases including “drag my dick across…” before they physically carried him to the vehicle.
Despite denying any physical confrontation, Picazo made multiple derogatory comments about the man and accused deputies of being the ones committing crimes. He also refused to walk into the jail, demanding to be carried.
If convicted on the felony count alone, Picazo faces up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
