A special education teacher at Salem School has been placed on administrative leave, the district announced Monday evening. According to a statement released to KCE and parents, the teacher has been placed on administrative leave since he was discovered “under the influence of an illicit substance” on October 3, 2024.
Salem School District superintendent, Dr. Vicki King told parents:
“Local law enforcement and the School Resource Officer from Central High School are conducting an ongoing investigation, and the staff member in question was immediately placed on administrative leave.
Because this is a personnel matter, we cannot share further details at this time. However, please know that we take this situation very seriously. We are working closely with police officials as they proceed with their investigation.
We wanted our families to be aware of this situation and our response to it. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. We will provide updates as we can.”
According to the call log, the Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the school, located at 8828 Antioch Rd in Salem, at about 4:24 p.m. for a call for service that dispatchers classified as a “mental health call.”
KCE has reached out to the Sheriff’s Department and will share more as we learn details.

“Under the influence of an illicit substance” is awfully vague. I’m concerned but will withhold judgment until there are more details.
In government, here it’s a school, they always say that they will not/can not talk about the situation because it’s a “personal issue”.
We the taxpayers pay these salaries. Period !!
We ARE the Bosses. Albeit behind the scenes.
Still, can someone tell me why we are “not allowed” to know ?
Always enjoyed listening to Miss Vicki’s husband sing “Tip Toe Through The Tulips” in falsetto. Big hit.
