A 19-year-old man has passed away only a couple of days after being pulled from Lake Andrea late in the late afternoon of August 2, 2024. Just before 5:00 p.m., Jackson Henderson went under water prompting a response from Pleasant Prairie Police, Fire and the Kenosha County Dive Team. Bystanders and first responders gave Henderson CPR and got a heartbeat, but he was underwater for too long.
The family initially approved the following statement:
“Jackson Henderson on the afternoon of 8/2/2024 experienced a freak drowning accident while swimming at Lake Andrea, in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. His friend, along with the help of bystanders, was able to help him out of the water and perform CPR. He went without oxygen for an estimated 10-20 minutes. Paramedics showed up and were able to get a pulse back before transporting him to St. Catherine’s Hospital. He is now receiving intense medical attention in the ICU.
Jackson is a nursing student at UW-Milwaukee, as well as working as a CNA. He is living in an apartment in the Milwaukee area and is financially responsible for himself.“
Today, the family made the sad announcement:
“Today, Jackson gave the gift of his life to others. After a few nights in the ICU and incredible work by the staff at St. Catherine’s Hospital, Jackson passed on this morning. He was honored by friends, family, and staff as he made his way to donate his organs. We appreciate your donations and encourage you to spread his story. Please continue to donate if you are able. Your generosity will go towards celebrating Jackson’s life and legacy including his funeral and medical expenses.
We will keep you updated. Thank you.
Love,
Jackson’s Friends and Family”

Organ donation is a class act. Kudos to the family for saving others during their own heartbreak.
that paramedics are trained to think about the possibility of organ donation when doing what they do knowing (possibly) that the victim is not going to make it.
Kudos to them for their part in this lifesaving event for the donation recipients.
Please remove this comment. Family and friends are reading this and it is really painful to read this
That is really a crappy thing to say!!! They don’t even have time when they get to a call to even know that information!! Not to mention, thank goodness they were at the new station, so that they could act fast and help the young man!!
Prayers to his family in making such a sacrifice, so that their son can live on through others!!! God Bless them all!!
False
Keep them alive up to the hospital.
Let the Dr.s take over.
That’s all that matters
um, not true. Same procedures and interventions performed in the field as in the ER. If the persons condition doesn’t change = no transport. Sounds like a terrible tragedy for all involved.
Condolences to Jackson’s family and friends on their loss. True hero giving the gift of life to others.Rest in peace young man.
A terrible tragedy. Hugs for the family.
We are sorry. A heartbreaking ending to a difficult life story. He was on his way to great things, overcoming the odds.
