KENOSHA, Wis. — Jerrod D. Patterson, 38, of Kenosha, was sentenced earlier this year to prison for brutally attacking a 17-year-old inside Manny’s, a convenience store at 2121 45th Street, during a chaotic slot-machine confrontation that left the teen with a broken nose, a concussion, and injuries so severe that surgery was required. Patterson faced a Class C felony punishable by up to 40 years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint , the violence unfolded on April 1, 2024, after an intoxicated older woman—identified as Bertha Ashley—accused the teen and his girlfriend of stealing slot-machine money. She allegedly phoned Patterson and summoned him to the store. Surveillance footage captured Patterson entering Manny’s wearing a blue puffer jacket and dreadlocks tied in a bun as he confronted the pair. The footage and witness statements describe the situation escalating rapidly: Ashley struck the teen’s girlfriend, the girlfriend slapped back in self-defense, and Patterson immediately launched a physical attack on the teen.
Multiple witnesses told officers that Patterson repeatedly punched the teen in the face. Officers arriving on scene found the boy bleeding and disfigured, with blood pooling on the store floor. The teen and his girlfriend locked themselves in a bathroom as the defendant reportedly yelled threats outside the door, including, “If we get this fucking door open, it’s over!” The victim’s mother later informed police that her son’s nose was broken, required surgery, and that he had been diagnosed with a concussion.
Kenosha Police investigators reviewed both interior and exterior security footage and received confirmation from Patterson’s DOC agent that his GPS monitor placed him at Manny’s at the exact time of the assault. Patterson was arrested at his residence shortly afterward.

Patterson pleaded guilty to the felony on August 12, 2025 before Judge Heather Iverson. A presentence investigation was ordered and reviewed prior to the sentencing hearing on November 5, 2025. At that hearing, Iverson sentenced him to a total of three years Wisconsin state prison: one year of initial confinement and two years of extended supervision. Patterson received 184 days of credit for time already served and was taken into custody following the hearing. He was also ordered to submit DNA and pay mandatory surcharges.
This marks one of the more serious child-abuse sentencings in Kenosha County this year, given the severity of the injuries and Patterson’s role as the adult who escalated a minor dispute into a violent felony assault.

At no point did it say the kid took her money she just accused them so it is ok to beat the hell out of a kid for an accusation…..His mother should of been arrested as well they both should be sitting in jail for the assault he can protect her there then…
Disagree – not effective. A K-Town Star Chamber justice league would be better to form and physically erase the animal and Big Bertha from existence permanently, silently, from behind, invisibly, efficiently, and effectively – reducing your WI tax liability. The legal and incarceration systems need this perp and its ilk for continuous rinse & repeat recycling to maintain their steady-state employment and pension accrual perpetuity so to ensure security of their plush lifestyles and social statuses. The kid to them is merely unlucky roadkill as are all crime victims to powerdrunk partisan opportunist activists.

Clear judgment and competent action/reaction are requirements of a civil, productive, moral, well-balanced Citizen – and a good life.
Both the animal perp and Ms. Bertha are in fact, social rot and a very expensive carry for the productive taxpayer, either as a SNAP-welfare leech, faked SS-disability case, revolving door jailbird and repeat customer of taxpayer fleeced free legal services. In sum: Trash. How is trash “fixed”? It’s collected, compacted, then incinerated to ashes and then constructively converted into landfill or fertilizer.

Patterson was wearing a Dept of Corrections ankle GPS monitor at the time of the attack. So he was already on probation or pre-trial detention for something else? Wow. Then his mother calls him in to help with an argument with teenagers over a slot machine. And I thought my family was sort of backwards bc my mom put marshmallows on the sweet potatoes.
