The Menominee made a lot of promises to Kenosha when trying to get the City and County of Kenosha to sign on the dotted line for a casino intergovernmental agreement – including telling Kenosha we should expect the federal government to approve of its casino application by now.
They had a lot to say then when seeking the support of Kenosha but are now nowhere to be seen or have said nothing to the community about the status of their project.
They haven’t been to one Common Council meeting or one County Board meeting since getting what they wanted from our local government officials. And Kenosha hasn’t heard a peep from them publicly about the status of the project despite the end of the year coming and going.
This can’t be a good sign because the adage of no news being good news doesn’t apply to those seeking casino approvals. Not getting the needed federal approvals in place before the Menominee friendly Biden Administration left the halls of power also doesn’t bode well for the casino considering the Menominee’s cozy relationship with Biden and Democrats.
This is just more of the same from the Menominee, who have spent the last 20 years giving the Kenosha community false hope and unrealistic expectations with their multiple attempts to build a casino here.
Just look at the unmet expectations they’ve set with this latest casino proposal.
In July of 2022, the then-leader of the Menominee Craig Corn stated they were optimistic that they would be able to get all their needed approvals in as little as one year. “I’m hearing that it could take anywhere from a year to two years,” Corn told 620 WTMJ. “They will be moving simultaneously with the hopes of getting all the approvals necessary in optimistically 12 months” Corn told the Milwaukee Business Journal.
With that timing expectation having already been missed, the Menominee then in November 2023 told members of the Kenosha County Board and Common Council they expected to have their project approved by the Department of Interior by the end of 2024 and to receive approval from Governor Evers in the first half of 2025.
And then in February of 2024, after a ceremonial signing the intergovernmental agreement with the City and County of Kenosha, a tribal leader told reporters that they expected to get a decision sometime in fall of 2024. “We are hopeful we will hear something later this fall,” said Joey Awonohopay, chair of the Menominee Kenosha Gaming Authority.
Not one of the timelines publicly set forward by the Menominee have been met. Worse yet, the Menominee have left Kenosha in the dark on the status of the casino project. And our community is left with an unusable piece of prime real estate for the foreseeable future.
If they really wanted to be a part of our community, should the Menominee be keeping us more informed? It’s time for our elected officials to start demanding answers from the Menominee Tribe.

What does Sam say?
Good, perhaps we won’t get stuck with a strip mall casino that isn’t paying enough out to the local community anyway. I don’t see how this is a bad thing.
Typical Democrats, backing out of an obligation mid stream.
They’re never able to cover checks that their mouths write.
Just like with foxscam, the non united states of Israel usi will be in a hard recession and project will be terminated like a Democrat kills a fetus. Grinded to a halt
foxscam? like Foxconn Home Inspections LLC?
How can we miss your sorry ass, if you don’t leave?
Good, we don’t want that thing anyway ✌🏼
The feds will not approve the tribe’s application due to corruption in local Kenosha government.
Elaborate please
Use a dictionary to look up corruption.
Use a map to look up Kenosha.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can’t Kenosha find good honest people for elected office? Kenosha County needs to be flushed of terrible people that run and get elected. Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, Bristol etc. the list is long
Lot of what has gone on in Kenosha, and the game that leadership still plays is due in part to Kenosha’s legacy news reporting—print and radio–that pretty much supports most anything said by local politicians. I think the term kiss asses would be appropriate.
Kenosha County Eye seems to be upsetting the status quo in that regard.
Have you ran?
Local government is AWFUL in Kenosha County. The Republicans seem to be a bunch of special needs candidates & the Democrats are worse. Bristol certainly needs a floor to ceiling purge. If they aren’t intellectually limited, they have terrible taste or zero vision. They just lie about keeping things quiet & rural during elections, then try to bring in low income & criminal laden development like casinos. “Nice” good ole boys (Retards) destroying our property values & quality of life. Good times.
99.9% of politicians run for office not to serve the people, but to seeve and enrich themselves.
I sure, hope they take that plan elsewhere! Last thing we need are gambling addicts running around.
This is good. We don’t need another casino. Just drive to Milwaukee or Waukegan if you want to gamble. No issue.
Can only imagine how the Menominee are upsetting the vision of a double or triple dip cush career job working as security and PR consultants, amongst other high paying positions. So many hopes and dreams came to an end when the dog park casino plan flopped. Bummer.
Man….sorta tarnishes the whole concept of influence peddling, not that it exists in Kenosha.
Of course the above is just commentary offered for entertainment value.
But how will Morrisey triple dip as head of their security? That Florida house won’t pay for itself.
C’mon Kenosha taxpayers!
Anteramian and the Kenosha Armenians need jobs for their second and third generation kids. Maybe the escort judge could decide your speeding and parking tickets for the savorign nation of the Kenosha casino?
The Tribe eliminated the requirement that the head is casino security have a college degree. During the back room dealing they agreed that a fake college degree was acceptable. That meant that Morrissey was their man.
Strangely, the city of Kenosha did the same thing and allowed Morrissey to be the city administrator.
You mean Morissey won’t be able to triple dip as head of Casino security?
C’mon Kenosha taxpayers!
Florida house’s don’t build themselves. Pools don’t dig themselves.
The Armenians need jobs for their grandchildren.
Maybe the prostitute patron Judge can decide you parking and speeding tickets on the sovereign land of the Kenosha Casino.
Help me which judge are you talking about??? I have more than one possible answer.
In my experience, nothing gaming related happens in this state without permission from the Potawatomi. Hard Rock should have made sure they were on board on day one. If they didn’t, maybe they deserve to fail.
I’m glad there’s not a casino. We need that like a hole in the head. We’ve got enough degenerates here from all the freeloader housing that has gotten built.
What does Chief “Wackum Peepe” have to say about all of this?
The casino was a mistake since way back when the morons pushed for one.
Hopefully it never happens.
