KENOSHA, Wis. – A 25-year-old armed Kenosha man with a significant drug-related criminal history is facing six new charges after police say he fled from officers during a May 7 traffic stop, physically resisted arrest, and admitted to ingesting cocaine as he was being taken into custody.
Jimmie J. Jackson was formally charged Tuesday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with felony possession of cocaine as a second or subsequent offense, three counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, and two counts of resisting an officer. Each charge includes repeater enhancers tied to Jackson’s 2020 felony conviction for heroin distribution, which could dramatically increase his potential prison sentence.

According to a criminal complaint, two Kenosha Police detectives in an unmarked squad car were patrolling near Birch Road when they encountered a black Dodge Charger that nearly collided head-on with their vehicle. The driver, later identified as Jackson, swerved back into his lane and parked near the Northpoint Crossing Apartments. As one detective approached the vehicle, Jackson reportedly said “oh shit” and appeared to recognize the officer.
The detective noted the strong odor of marijuana coming from the car and observed Jackson attempting to reach into his pockets, despite being repeatedly told to stop. Police say Jackson has a known history involving firearms and shootings, and was considered armed and dangerous during the encounter.
When detectives attempted to handcuff him, Jackson broke free and ran, setting off a foot chase through the neighborhood. Officers pursued him across streets, through yards, and over fences before finally cornering him. Jackson refused to comply with commands to get on the ground, according to police, and continued resisting even after being physically taken down.
A Kenosha police officer deployed a Taser energy weapon in an attempt to subdue Jackson, but it had little effect. Jackson allegedly continued to fight officers trying to secure his arms behind his back. During the struggle, he reportedly said, “just kill me.”
After his arrest, Jackson was taken to the hospital for evaluation. He later told an officer that he had ingested the drugs he was carrying. Police recovered a white baggie containing 1.8 grams of cocaine behind his vehicle, which tested positive for the drug. They also found $8,041 in cash stuffed in Jackson’s pockets.
At the time of the incident, Jackson was out on bond in a pending misdemeanor case and under conditions that required him not to commit additional crimes. He had been released on a signature bond in early April for obstructing an officer.
Jackson’s prior criminal history includes a 2019 case in which he was convicted of possession with intent to deliver heroin. He served nearly four years in custody before being released in August 2023. He also has a 2018 conviction for THC possession.
Court Commissioner William Michel II set cash bail at $10,000 on Tuesday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 30.
If convicted on all charges with the repeater penalties, Jackson faces a maximum sentence of more than 15 years in prison and over $60,000 in fines.
