SOMERS, Wis. — A Kentucky man with multiple felony convictions is facing new charges in Kenosha County after deputies say he admitted to possessing a stolen firearm during a highway traffic stop near the Illinois-Wisconsin state line.
Justin Alexander Davidson, 22, of Louisville, appeared in court Thursday afternoon for an initial appearance on one count of possession of a firearm by an out-of-state felon, with a repeater enhancer. Commissioner William Michel II set bail at $15,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 30, 2025.
If convicted, Davidson faces up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine. Because of his prior felony convictions, prosecutors may seek to add up to four additional years under Wisconsin’s repeater statute, increasing his total exposure to 14 years.

The arrest stems from a multi-jurisdictional alert issued by law enforcement in Pickaway County, Ohio. On the morning of May 22, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department was informed that a gray Hyundai Elantra with Ohio plates was believed to be in the area. The vehicle was reportedly transporting a wanted felon named Levi Karshner, who authorities cautioned may be armed and dangerous.
Deputy Lanctot of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area near SpringHill Suites off Interstate 94. Using real-time GPS updates, dispatchers informed him that the suspect vehicle had turned north onto I-94 and was approaching Highway 60. Lanctot ultimately spotted the Elantra near the Highway KR exit and conducted a traffic stop with the assistance of other deputies and state troopers.
Inside the vehicle were five individuals: Kayla Brady, who was driving, and four passengers including Davidson, who was seated in the rear middle seat. During a search of the vehicle, officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia claimed by the driver, as well as a loaded Cobra .380 pistol on the rear passenger floor. The weapon was confirmed stolen out of Kentucky.
According to the complaint, Davidson told Deputy Rohrs that the firearm was his and that he had purchased it a few days earlier at a flea market in Kentucky. He denied knowing it was stolen. Davidson further admitted to being a convicted felon, referencing past convictions for breaking and entering and receiving stolen property in both Ohio and Indiana.
Court records cited in the complaint show Davidson was convicted in January 2024 in Clark County, Indiana, for residential theft. He was also convicted in May 2024 in Fairfield County, Ohio, for breaking and entering and felony theft. Both cases remain on record and unreversed, making Davidson legally prohibited from possessing any firearm.
Davidson was arrested at the scene and transported to the Kenosha County Jail, where he remains in custody.

Deputy Lanctot and Fritz stopped the son of a bitch. Hope it’s not another case of the revolving door syndrome.
