Friday night’s crowd was nothing short of electric, with festivalgoers packing the grounds to hear The Box Band and BB & the Honey deliver energetic sets that kept the party going well into the evening. Despite nearby Country Thunder competing for attention just down the road, the turnout was massive — a clear sign that Kenosha County is ready to embrace this unique blend of culture, music, food, and fun.

This was the first time Das Fest has been held in Kenosha County, and if opening night was any indication, it won’t be the last. The festival’s new home in Wilmot offered ample space and easy access, and the response from the community was immediate and enthusiastic.

Also making its grand debut was the Big Beautiful Building — a brand-new addition to the fairgrounds that proved a perfect venue for indoor performances and beverage sales. Festival organizers used the space to its fullest, blending high-energy bands with friendly bartenders and plenty of shade from the July sun.

Throughout the grounds, the air was filled with the scent of sizzling bratwurst and the sounds of polka and laughter. Visitors explored the bustling vendor market, sipped PROST! Pilsner, challenged friends to stein-hoisting contests, and of course, cheered on the famous Little Leg Races featuring dozens of spirited corgis and dachshunds.

With just $2 admission, free parking, and a shuttle running from Lake Geneva, it was easy for families and festivalgoers of all ages to join in the celebration.
As the sun set over the Kenosha County Fairgrounds on Friday night, one thing was clear: Das Fest had found its new home — and Kenosha had found a new summertime tradition.
