KENOSHA, Wis. – A Kenosha man who failed to appear for his scheduled jury trial last month on sexual assault charges is now facing two new charges of misdemeanor bail jumping.
Michael L. Uttech, 34, was arrested on a body-only warrant issued after he failed to appear for his May 19 jury trial. He appeared in court today before Court Commissioner William Michel II, who set bail at $1,000 cash for the two bail jumping charges and $10,000 cash for the underlying sexual assault case. Uttech remains in custody.

The sexual assault charges, filed in June 2023, stem from two separate incidents involving the mother of Uttech’s children. The first occurred on June 4 in Pleasant Prairie, where the woman told police that Uttech groped her during a custody exchange outside her home. She said he initially touched her breast while taking custody of their four-year-old daughter, and then reached back and touched her again. She told him to stop but did not immediately report the incident out of concern for the co-parenting situation.
The second alleged assault occurred on June 18 outside the Children’s Hospital clinic in Kenosha, where the same woman said Uttech again grabbed her breast without consent during a second custody exchange. According to the complaint, she told Uttech not to touch her, to which he reportedly laughed. She said he then tried to touch her again as she was backing away and telling him to stop.
Both incidents were later reported to Kenosha police. The charges—two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault with domestic abuse enhancers—are Class A misdemeanors, each punishable by up to nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine. The bail jumping charges Uttech now faces are also Class A misdemeanors, carrying the same penalties.
Uttech’s failure to appear for his May trial led directly to today’s bail jumping charges. A new trial date has not yet been scheduled.
