KENOSHA, Wis. — A Kentucky man was sentenced Monday to more than three years in prison for a high-speed chase in Kenosha County that ended with his fourth drunk driving conviction and the discovery of THC vapes and marijuana in his vehicle.
Trevor C. Runyon, 42, pleaded guilty to one felony count of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, fourth offense, stemming from an April 14, 2024 traffic stop on Interstate 94 in the Village of Bristol. A second charge, possession of THC, was dismissed but read in for sentencing.
According to the criminal complaint, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputy Brooks clocked Runyon’s red Toyota traveling over 120 mph in a 70 mph zone while weaving through traffic without signaling. After pulling him over, deputies observed erratic behavior, heavy sweating, and signs consistent with drug use. Runyon admitted to having a THC vape in the car, and a search uncovered three more THC vapes, marijuana “roaches,” and multiple cell phones. At the hospital, a doctor told Runyon he tested positive for amphetamines and THC.

Judge Heather Iverson, new to the criminal rotation, sentenced Runyon to three years and four months in the Wisconsin State Prison system — 16 months of initial confinement, with credit for 121 days served, and two years of extended supervision. He was also ordered to pay a $600 fine plus court costs, undergo an alcohol assessment, provide a DNA sample, and install an ignition interlock device for three years once eligible to drive again. His driver’s license was revoked for 36 months.
Three related traffic citations — reckless driving-endangering safety, unsafe lane deviation, and unreasonable and imprudent speed — were dismissed. Runyon was taken into custody immediately after sentencing.
