PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — A 30-year-old Pleasant Prairie man is facing multiple domestic abuse charges after police say he attacked his girlfriend during a violent outburst Saturday night, leaving her with visible injuries and a destroyed cell phone.
Elijah M. Fenton appeared in Kenosha County Circuit Court today, where Court Commissioner William Michel II ordered $2,500 cash bail and set a preliminary hearing for August 21. He is charged with felony false imprisonment and felony intimidation of a victim, along with misdemeanor counts of battery, criminal damage to property, and disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to Fenton’s residence on 104th Avenue just before 11 p.m. on August 16 after dispatch received an open 911 call. A woman could be heard screaming and saying she was being pushed and punched.
Police spoke with the 43-year-old woman, who told investigators she had been dating Fenton for about a year and that he had been living with her since last November. She reported that he arrived home intoxicated, accused her of cheating, slapped her across the face, and then punched her repeatedly while holding her down on a couch so she could not escape.
The complaint states that when she tried to call police, Fenton ripped the phone from her hand, smashed it into pieces, and told her he would wait outside for officers to arrive. Officers later found him nearby with the assistance of a drone and took him into custody without incident.
Police documented swelling to the woman’s cheeks and forehead and photographed her injuries. She signed a written statement and elected to enforce a 72-hour no-contact order.
If convicted of the most serious charge, felony intimidation of a victim, Fenton faces up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
