KENOSHA, Wis. — Emergency responders were called to a home on the city’s south side Tuesday afternoon after reports of a child injured by a gunshot.
The incident occurred around 1:35 p.m. Initial reports suggested the child had been struck by a bullet, but authorities later determined the injury was not a gunshot. Instead, the child’s hand was pinched by the slide of a firearm that had discharged, according to investigators.
To prevent any appearance of impropriety, the Kenosha Police Department asked the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office to take over the investigation because the injured child is the son of a high-ranking Kenosha police officer.
In a statement released Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said:
“On 08/19/2025, the Kenosha Police Department contacted the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office and requested assistance with an incident involving a member of the Kenosha Police Department. A minor injury was reported. To ensure transparency, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office will be the investigating agency. The investigation is currently active, and no further information will be released at this time.”
According to sources familiar with the case, no criminal charges are expected. The child sustained only minor injuries in what appears to have been an accident that could have resulted in far more serious harm. A law enforcement insider told KCE the gun was in a locked safe and the child found a way in.
Kenosha County Eye is not naming the officer involved.

Who was the officer
I’m not naming him or her
Yet, you allow comments like this all the time on this site This is a copy and paste of a comment from the article about the sexual offender safe house:
This is the owner of the property as listed on our Kenosha County Website. Now, would you actually be so benevolent to the County Taxpayers as to not get as much money as possible for your property when you find out that it will be sold to house sex offenders? Would “Jacking up the price’ possibly knowingly result in a “No Vote”? Perhaps you will contact the selling owner and find out their motivation and share it with us. I suggest that you do not call them a “scumbag” given that no criminality is attributed to the owner on CCAP.

The information posted was due to disparaging remarks people made about the seller and accusations of corruption against others. The owner of the property is public information available to the public easily found on our county website or google search. This person was defended by me even though I have no knowledge of the owner. The owner has done nothing illegal from public records or now in the sale of their home.
Politics are a mother fucker aren’t they. You need to get your information faster than FOIA can provide somehow huh.
Didn’t you just read this article?… Did you read it to the full extent? All the way to the end?
Wonder if social services are going to be involved? Maybe because they help each other in this racist town.
So a gun was discharged in their house and somehow the kid got his hand pinched by the slide….WTF? Something still isn’t right. A negligent discharge still occurred.
Did the cop leave his pew-pew accessible? If so, he/she needs to be fired & charged with child endangerment just like one of us peons!
Any citizen would have guns confiscated and arrested for negligence of a child or child endangerment. Social Service nightmare. Court’s, needing Attorney, possibly the child removed from the home. The child would have been the victim entirely not the parent’s careers. Police investigating police again, that’s hilarious. Qualified immunity, police do no wrong right? Tragic though let’s be honest here, Solis needs to prosecute this officer. Why the secret? Any if our names would have been disclosed and in this case should be.
Yikes, this won’t end well.
This is on ********** *********, if that helps anyone to identify the police officer.. none of this makes sense. They give no information. How old was the child? Did the child fire the gun?
Yes, you are correct.Nobody knows ANY details whatsoever but boy are you all quick to judge!
A young kid had a gun. Yes. We can judge
It’s back the blue, not blow the blue Anony.
Ring Neighbor’s on doorbell app stated that a 9 year kid was injured and that the parent’s are lucky it wasn’t worse, then gave address which I have no reason to post.
I thought we wanted to inform the community? I guess that’s only when it’s our enemies. No other news on this… way to shine the light k.
Is it going to make any difference in your life knowing WHO?
Doesn’t matter. It’s a double standard.
Tell us you know him without telling us
Kenosha’s Good Old Boys Club is at it again. Some things never change.
KPD- the first thing you learn in crime scenes is not to gather and talk and laugh on the scene of a crime. Time and time again we see your officers do this behavior. This is extremely hurtful to the families that you are serving.
I know I was one of them and you had the parade of officers from the upper management to the officers go through my house and take a look at my deceased family member. Please learn that you do not need to be out on the lawn, in someone’s driveway or in their house to gather. All of the shift officers simply do not need to be there.
I was thinking the same thing. Don’t these Officer have a job to do other than gawking, gossiping? Good old boys club gathering? Pull over some of these maniac drivers everywhere in the city. Excellent display of the supervision of these Officers and their management. The police need to be policed.
Gossiping? seriously? That’s all you people do on this post. You just cannot wait to find out WHO the officer was. You all are just chomping at the bit like a bunch of cackling hens. LOL
Personally, I couldn’t care less to find out the officer’s name IF he or she is being treated like an average resident when an incident like this occurs. However, this investigation reeks of preferential treatment. In fairness, it would be interesting to see how the Kenosha Police Department has handled similar incidents to this one involving non-officers. If charges haven’t been filed against non-officers in the past, then I agree with the KPD’s decision in this case. If so, that’s an unacceptable double standard.
