SOMERS, Wis. — Families looking for a fun, spooky night outdoors will once again have the chance to enjoy Halloween Movie Night at Petrifying Springs Park this Saturday, Oct. 25. The annual event, hosted by Kenosha County Parks, promises an afternoon and evening filled with seasonal games, treats, and a movie under the stars.
The festivities kick off at 3 p.m. near the Petrifying Springs Biergarten, where families can take part in a range of free activities including pumpkin painting, ring toss, and pumpkin bowling. Volunteers from local community groups and nonprofits will also be on site offering interactive displays and giveaways for kids.
From 3 to 6 p.m., children can make their way through a “trick-or-treat trail,” stopping at booths hosted by Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services Inc., Scouting America, UW–Extension, and other local organizations. Costumes are encouraged, and families are invited to bring bags or buckets for collecting candy.
As dusk falls, the park will transform into an open-air theater for a showing of Disney-Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., beginning around 6 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and warm clothes for the crisp fall evening. Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase at the nearby Biergarten.
Kenosha County Parks officials say the free event is designed to offer a safe, family-friendly way to celebrate Halloween while enjoying one of the area’s most scenic public spaces. “Petrifying Springs is a beautiful setting this time of year,” said a county spokesperson. “This event has become a tradition that brings together families from across the community.”
Petrifying Springs Park, located at 5555 Seventh St. (Highway A) in Somers, is Kenosha County’s oldest and most visited park, known for its wooded trails, creekside paths, and picnic areas.
The Halloween celebration is part of a larger series of fall and winter community events organized by Kenosha County Parks. Up next on the calendar is the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, set for Saturday, Nov. 29, at 3 p.m., also at Petrifying Springs Park. County Executive Samantha Kerkman will lead the ceremony, which will include caroling, refreshments, and the lighting of the park’s holiday decorations.
