Candidate for Wisconsin Senate
KENOSHA, Wis. — Sandy Rowe Wiedmeyer, the chairman of the Republican Party of Kenosha County, announced Monday that she is stepping back from the day-to-day operations of the local party as she continues her campaign for the 11th State Senate District.
Wiedmeyer said the move is intended to ensure transparency and fairness as she seeks higher office while still holding a leadership role within the county party.
“As I continue my campaign for State Senate District 11, I want to be transparent with the Republican family of Kenosha County about how we will handle party business during this season,” Wiedmeyer wrote.
She said the decision was previously communicated to members during a party meeting last month and took effect immediately. Wiedmeyer emphasized that stepping back from operational control would allow her to dedicate her full energy to the campaign.
“Effective immediately, I will be stepping back from the day-to-day operations of the Kenosha County GOP to focus my full energy on the campaign,” she said, adding that she remains proud of her years of volunteer service as chairwoman.
Wiedmeyer described the decision as one rooted in maintaining the integrity of the organization and avoiding any conflicts between party leadership and campaign efforts.
“This is a deliberate decision rooted in fairness and the integrity of our process,” she said.
During her absence from daily leadership duties, the Kenosha County Republican Party Board will oversee operations. Wiedmeyer expressed strong confidence in the board’s ability to manage the organization.
“I have full confidence in their ability to do so,” she said. “This is an exceptionally talented and dedicated board, and their singular mission — as it has always been — is to elect Republicans up and down the ballot.”
She added that the party’s mission and direction would remain unchanged, emphasizing continuity and stability during the election cycle.
“They will carry out that mission with the same professionalism and commitment that has defined this party,” Wiedmeyer said. “Kenosha County Republicans are in good hands, and we all remain fully committed to getting Republicans elected.”
Wiedmeyer said she is now fully focused on her Senate campaign, calling it an opportunity to serve the community at a higher level.
“At this time I am dedicating my full energy and attention to my campaign for the 11th State Senate District,” she wrote. “This is an important opportunity to serve our community at a higher level and to continue having a positive impact on and within our community.”
She closed her statement by thanking supporters for their continued backing.
“It requires my complete focus,” she said. “I appreciate all of the community support I have received serving as chair and the support I am receiving as a candidate for your next State Senator for District 11.”
