The complaining witness, who was 14-16 at the time of the allegations, was 18 when she testified today. She told the jury of several occasions when Mitchell grabbed her but and touched her on her upper thighs close to her groin area.

The prosecution’s trial strategy was that the jury should believe the woman because “women don’t make up sexual assault allegations…She came here today and told you the truth,” said outgoing prosecutor Alexandra Smathers. The trial had previously been delayed to to late evidence from the prosecution.

The jury, however didn’t hear any evidence of these charged and convictions. Mitchell is the father of Sharmain Harris, a violent convicted felon, who was in court today. This is Smathers’ final trial as a prosecutor. This was also the co-prosecutor in this case, Alexis Bauer’s final trial in Kenosha.

  2. This verdict must be terribly disappointing for all the racist commenters to past stories about this case. This racist commenters condemned this man simply because he is black. Yes, the expressed racism is that obvious.

    1. A child molester can be any color. And he was in court because he doesn’t know how to conduct himself like a decent adult.

    2. Pfft um no, it want bc he’s black it’s bc he’s got quite the rap sheet and his son is just as bad (and racist).

  3. We’ve got to stop wasting taxpayer time and money on unwinnable cases.

I won’t claim to know whether or not the pastor did anything inappropriate, but this was a case of he-said-she-said. If you’re going to drag a man’s name through the mud and put on an expensive trial, you need proof beyond a reasonable doubt, not just an accusation.

I’ve heard that Smathers (and Kenosha in general) has a reputation for going to trial with lone accusation and losing. This doesn’t benefit anyone, and hopefully that practice stops under Xavier Solis.

    1. Life long criminal? No. No incidents in over 20 years. People can change and some choose to do so. While many don’t, how about giving a break to those who do?

  4. This article is nothing but a smear campaign! This man was innocent beyond a shadow of a doubt! The facts didn’t line up with the accusations! Glad this man is free!

    1. I mean….OK? So maybe he isn’t a sexual assaulter/pedophile. Awesome.

However, he still is a piece of shit and domestic abuser as evidenced by the stuff he HAS been found guilty of.

Like, congrats, shitbag….still a joke this guy is a pastor (or whatever the fuck they call themselves these days).

      1. it is not Mr Mitchel’s fault that he is a colored man. He was born this way, it is not his fault that his skin is black. Christian God decided on his poop-colored skin. Shame on You!

  5. Not guilty does not mean “innocent”. I doubt his granddaughter made these things up. There was no physical evidence is all. Jurors are human

    1. Her story was not believable plus contradicting witness statements didn’t help us believe the story either! But yes we are all human
