Bristol Spends Six Figures Fighting Black Man’s Family After Racist Neighbor Complaint

Quentin Jackson and his son Camron pictured on their Bristol property — on the left in 2017, smiling and hopeful about the future; on the right in 2024, after seven years of fighting the Village in court. A picture that shows not just the passage of time, but the toll of a battle no family should have to endure.

BRISTOL, Wis. — The Village of Bristol has spent more than $126,000 (as much as $226,000) in taxpayer money fighting a biracial family over their right to build a home — a dispute that began after a white neighbor told sheriff’s deputies, “It’s the color of the goddamn skin.”

The cover photo for this story says what words can’t. On the left, Quentin Jackson and his son Camron are smiling — a father and son filled with hope and excitement about their future on the Bristol property they had just purchased. On the right, taken seven years later, Camron still smiles, but his father’s face tells a different story — one of exhaustion, frustration, and a man who’s been forced to fight far longer than anyone should have to just to build a home for his family. It’s a visual reminder of what this fight has cost in time, money, and peace. “Can’t pick him up like that any more,” Jackson joked.

Invoices obtained by Kenosha County Eye show that the Village has paid the Madison-based law firm Michael Best & Friedrich LLP more than $126,000 through early 2025 for a case labeled “Zoning and Stormwater Code Violations.” The work includes litigation strategy meetings, depositions, and drafting motions — all stemming from a years-long conflict with Quentin Jackson, a Black man, and his wife, Christine, who is white. Jackson thinks the Village has spent much more.

The Jacksons bought a five-acre property in Bristol nearly seven years ago with plans to build a home for their family. Jackson says the project turned into a nightmare after neighbors and Village officials began interfering. “The Bristol Village Board in the eyes of our family and many others that are afraid to speak up, is simply a huge disappointment,” Jackson said. “It is fraught with fraud, zero ethics, lies, deception driven by segregation.”

Jackson said the Village’s actions have nothing to do with enforcing ordinances. “Nothing about this is about code enforcement,” he said. “That is the angle they are trying to use. Is Bristol really spending just south of $300,000 to fight three ordinance tickets that they actually went back and altered to find us guilty? This is about Randy Kerkman proving that his phone rolodex is stronger than anyone else’s.”

He accused Kerkman, Bristol’s longtime administrator, of using public money to settle personal scores. “He wants to show that if anyone else ever challenges him this is your fate,” Jackson said. “Making an example of us will prove to the Village of Bristol residents that you are to keep your mouth shut and your blinders on.”

According to Jackson, the Village Board has refused to intervene. “I’ve emailed and had extremely short conversations with some Board members,” he said. “None have made any attempt to resolve the issues. They only try to gather information to use against us and to protect themselves. They all fear Kerkman and he knows it.”

The conflict ramped up years ago when one of the Jacksons’ white neighbors, Felix Siordia, reportedly told deputies, “It’s the color of the goddamn skin.” Jackson said Siordia’s wife also made racist remarks directly to him. “She had no problem telling us to go back to where we came from,” Jackson recalled. “We don’t want your kind here.”

From there, Jackson said, Kerkman and others in the Village began escalating the matter. “He demanded us to stay off our property until the civil dispute was resolved,” Jackson said. “Afterwards, Byron and Susan Aslett along with a series of Kenosha County Sheriffs [Deputies] were recruited to apply pressure.”

The Village later filed a lawsuit against the Jacksons, represented by high-powered attorneys at Michael Best. “Our initial reaction to Bristol having Michael Best, and at times double-digit attorneys, is that they know they fucked up,” Jackson said. “Randy needs to make sure he saves his retirement and pension. So if spending is going to make sure that happens, then they will continue to write checks.”

The case has taken a personal toll on the family. “This whole case has taken mental health to a whole different level,” Jackson said. “People who really know you have to pull you to the side and make you acknowledge that you aren’t the same person anymore. Financially, no one prepares to be dragged through this for seven years.”

Jackson estimates he’s invested about $240,000 of his own money into the project so far. “One hundred percent, Bristol’s goal is to try to wear us down not only mentally but also financially,” he said. “Unfortunately for Kerkman and the bunch, they picked the wrong ones to try.”

Despite everything, Jackson said his family remains determined. “Definitely both — that house will be built atop that hill and the Village of Bristol will be held accountable,” he said. “Justice in my eyes is non-biased. Leave out the titles and relationships, drop the name recognition and just old-fashioned due process of the law.”

      1. Half colored? Who are you? This is 2025. The Jackson’s are human beings. They are in love and love each other. What have they done to you? You are the mindless robot stuck in the past with hatred and bigotry. WWJD? If you can’t answer that then you belong in the hell you have created. So you should move!!!

  1. The whole of Bristol needs to be ashamed !!
You all are on the hook for letting this happen !!

Every voter has an obligation to watch, check and stand up against tyranny like this in your local government !! Every year you can vote out these village leaders. On an every other year basis.
Every citizen in Bristol needs to hang their heads in shame for not only voting these do nothings in, but then not voting them out !!

Additionally every one of the residents are now on the hook for not just this money already spent but the inevitable payout to the Jacksons in the future.

One question. Can someone tell the rest of us the history of the Kerkman’s in Kenosha County ?
Going back a hundred years or more ??
There are a lot of them ! And so many have made their way into government !!
Government Service is not easy. It’s a calling. And a lot of Kerkman’s have answered that calling.
But they’re not good at it !! How come ??

      1. … is that Trump voters decide to watch what’s happening right under their noses. That they haven’t done.

This was out in the open. Anyone with half a brain could see at the meetings that this was not being corrected.
This shouldn’t have gone past the first meeting. Yet it did. This again is on the people of Bristol for not standing up with Mr. Jackson.

Yes Bristol may be Trump territory but there are lazy people on both sides of the isle.

This is about racism, not politics.
I don’t care which side you’re on, racism has no home anywhere.

        1. Wrong. While nothing is meant personnally to this bi-racial family, after all that has happened since Obama 2008, a Silent Majority of the still White Majority are sick and tired of the social engineering effects of forced African DNA injections in their White communities…and of the high horse arrogant Whites, primarily alpha females and their beta eunuchs that morally justify and celebrate the social rot that follows.

            1. The test of the posting was to see the final upvote/downvote, which was expected to be majority down. That its 3X more down than up indicates K-Town is on greased skids down the cultural drain and that its post 2020 riot reputation will never improve in this generation.

      2. Exactly my thought. I would sue for a million and sell them they punk ass land back, because once they move their they will be touched if not killed.

    1. Ruth Atwood does nothing? And all the accolades from Washburn lodge? And hree we see a bigot. Lodge Might wanna divorce themselves from her and her kind. Masons and daughters do nit support this shit. And John and his historical soc? Might wanna check into why Bristol supports that but is clearly fuckin bigoted.
Randy, you should be ashamed, especially you.

    2. Those whole area is racist. Sundown towns and some more stuff. That area, about 30 miles north and until about 30 miles south…NOT SAFE for us black people. I’ve had a few run ins in these areas while I was just minding my black owned business. Went to Wisconsin Dells and was berated for being black and having on a shirt that praised black women who have made change in the world. Trump has made the racists more bold and the fact that they control a lot of these public offices makes it even harder. They’ll do whatever they can to keep “us coloreds” off “their land” smh…it’s sickening.

  3. Wow.. I have to say I am embarrassed and ashamed of you Bristol… I know the family very well. Quentin is a talented classic car restorer, his some is an amazing athlete. Quentin is a great dad supporting his son and his athletic pursuits. He is a great friend and guy. These neighbors are horribly racist. Just so sad. Shame on you Bristol and anyone who is supporting this mistreatment

    1. I still haven’t seen proof of racism. I’d love to support Q but crying the race game has him losing a lot of people, stick to the facts.

      1. Show me where I cried the race game. I don’t have to I just let the emails, videos, phone conversations, depositions on MLk day, and recorded village meetings do the talking for me. It’s fine if you need to blame me,it’s fine if you don’t support me. But have you besides looking on the internet reached out to me, come to a meeting, gone through files or showed to a court date to hear how Bristol portrays me in order to discredit our case? Did it take you 3 attorneys and 6.5 years to build your home and still have nothing? Had any of the people i “lost”come to see exactly what’s going on? Are they scared of big daddy Kerkman or do they have good ole boy passes too. I can’t lose people that never joined me to fight together or fellowship. In closing, never look down on a person unless you are helping them up!!!! Notice I use my real name and profile, because I’m 100% have the day you deserve…..

        1. I moved to a 10 acre property and the following year the neighbor behind me moved his driveway right alongside the property line. More traffic then my previous house. And raised like a railroad bed lol. There was some flooding issues. He made some adjustments with drainage pipes. They are great people and property owners get to do whatever they want if its approved. Totally changed up the appeal of my property but in your case I watch all the videos, you improved it! They are just fucking with you on some good Ole boy nonsense. Don’t fold.

    2. I swear these hateful ppl have to be kkk’s men. OMG…look at all this time and money wasted just to try to stop this man and his family from building next to YOU. Like the one guy stated and rubbed his arm stating the color of Mr. Jackson. THATS THE WHOLE REASON FOR THIS HARASSMENT. THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN. Let me ask you, if you or a loved one needed a blood transfusion and Mr. Jackson was the only one that could save you or your love one would you take the transfusion? How much HATE do you really have? Let me answer for you…no you won’t take it because HATE is a strong emotion. Your all just alot of racist fools.

Either way, why have neighbors like this? I’d have just moved elsewhere…..the 6 figures he has spent on this would have bought a really nice lot somewhere else.

I mean, it’s fucking Bristol….not exactly Glencoe or Winnetka.

  7. I live in Bristol, it’s one corrupt town if I have ever seen one. I pay 25k a year in property taxes, and this is what they spend it on. Years ago, I wanted to add a building to my property, but the building inspector said No way, I have 7 acres, so no excuse. I filed for my building permit, and they said no again, but gave no reason except that I said so. I had my attorney contact them, and a building permit found its way into my mailbox a few days later. I keep a close watch on these scumbags, and my attorney is ready for their next round of crap. They gave me a citation for not mowing my lawn, which you can not even see from the street. I did not mow it as we like the wildlife in our yard. It’s impressive, though, if you fill your yard with wrecked cars and trucks, junk, and garbage, they don’t say anything as you’re just one of the beer-drinking hillbillys. I’m a trump supporter too, so don’t start with that.

    32
    3
    1. As a fellow Trump supporter, I recommend you move to a Red State. It is far nicer to live up in them. Your tax burden will be far less and your community there will be far less corrupt.

      8
      4
  8. Randy Kerkman and the Village of Bristol inspector are impossible to deal with. As a homeowner in Bristol for 16 years, they act as if they do not care about its long time residents! I have been having an issue with them being rude and allowing things in MY neighborhood since 2019 that are not allowed — my new neighbors are getting away with all sorts of things they shouldn’t be while I continue to be disappointed by the village. Why do I not have any rights? Why does the inspector talk to me like I’m some damn idiot? He has no filter. I’ve been building a life here for a long time, only to have the officials sticking up for the new neighbors that are doing things the wrong way. I would much rather have this family living next door! wtf Bristol. Get it together!

    14
    1. At least they think they are.
Of any government job out there, being a building inspector is actually the easiest !
      I mean that sincerely.
Because all they need to do is read the words and numbers printed in the books.
Each size of a property has its own building limitations.
Each size of house and garage has limitations.
Set backs. Heights or in this case, lows.

Everything a building inspector does is defined in a printed local ordinance or state law or national code.
These things are not up for debate or modification at the initial permit application stage.
As long as you follow the “letter of the law” there should be zero discussion or debate.
Permits are not to be withheld on a whim.

If a property owner is seeking a variance, then a review of the requested changes needs to be compared to past precedents and exceptions. Along with neighbors notification and hearing.

These rogue inspectors think that they are protecting us from ourselves. They aren’t. They think they have power to rewrite the rules according to visions they have. They don’t.
There are certain personality types that can be great inspectors. And just the same there are some that are not.
And it is up to the residents to monitor the people that hire these village employees, their elected officials, and rein them in when they are found not up to following the laws and rules that are already decided and in place. Not the ones in their heads.

      16
  9. Listened to the 36 minute body cam. Seems Mr. Jackson filled in wetland / flood plain causing storm water issues for the surrounding properties. Listeing to the end it sounds as if Kerkman and the Village gave him a clear path to a building permit and agreement and apparently Mr. Jackson did not agree.

Shame on the neighbor who clearly is a racist. He should be run out of town.

While the Village may be in the right here, shame on them for not mediating this and wasting so many taxpayer dollars.

Mr. Jackson should get to build his home of choice within the guidelines and rules we must all follow – regardless of race (which I do not think the Village is guilty of).

    7
    1
    1. Ok, is there a standing Army Corp or DNR violation? Simple yes or no. If there isn’t a violation, what is this all about other than color of a man’s skin? Bristol time to settle this, the bottom feeding Attorney are giving you poor advice, save your money and settle, even if it hurts. What happen if this Family wins big? The Attorney’s checks have already cleared and the insurance premiums have gone up and the taxpayers foot the bill, move on.

      7
      1
    2. Go on my Facebook page I posted a copy of the extortion contract they offered me to build that I didn’t except. It had a clause saying I couldn’t sue for past and future allegations 0 liability to Bristol.

    3. Problem is there were never any storm and water issues. That complaint was issued by the same neighbors. Also they are on body cam and cell video admitting that they said it “ just because” and “ just incase “. We asked for the investigation of the facts to back this as we were told, but it was never actually done by Bristol. DNR storm and water and county passed. We never applied for Bristol( another lie by Kerkman). We share a wetland between our properties and they actually have broken field tiles on theirs…. We repaired ours. They got pissed because our contractors wouldn’t” just go 30 feet over and dig theirs out too”, for the same price!!( didn’t want to pay). 6 years later…… here we go, backed by lies and Kerkman got so deep into it he couldn’t back out! No honkn my page there are way more videos…. That’s the only way to prove liars…. Record them!!

    4. There is a video where the neighbor admitted that they were never and water or flood issues. Also another with the cops on bodycam. Kerman just goes by word of mouth and never does any footwork. Bristol spending money for a bunch of lies that are getting exposed.

  10. Kenosha County filled in wetlands along Highway K in Paddock Lake and got away with it— at the same time that Salem Lakes was being roasted for it.

    6
    2
    1. Do as I say, not as I do. That comes to mind. Government can damage wetlands, with not fines or penalties. Salem Lakes got a violation with no fine. Look what they are doing to this family and for what? They just want to build a house, so Bristol can tax the hell out of them. Think how much more expensive things have gotten to build in the last 5 years. Mr Jackson should include that cost in his suit.

      14
  11. I really wish I were a lawyer, I would fight pro-bono for this family. The village of Bristol should be ashamed of itself, and anyone who has participated in this racist behavior should be ashamed of themselves. This is NOT 1968, it is 2025, and I thought we had gotten past this bullshit!

    10
    1
    1. You’re not a lawyer, but I’ve followed your comments on here and you seem to have a level head with practical ideas.

What you could do, is run against a different Kerkman for County Exec.

      10
  12. One would think the County Executive Sammy the Cow (Kenosha County Underboss) should be intervening on behalf of the bullied family and put an end to this saga/ waste of taxpayer money. Oh wait, she is a master of self promotion and creating kayos. She has super human powers for she is a Kerkman. Not accountable for anything.

    1. The county has no jurisdiction.

Bristol is a village. Plain and simple.

When Bristol worked to become a village years ago it was for exactly these reasons. To control everything in their boundaries.
For good or bad it is what it is.

That said, because Mr. Jackson’s fight is “only” with the village, he will have a better chance at winning.
Even at that I doubt the county would have not allowed the original permit.
Sam aside, there are different heads over there.

  13. Randy Kerkman? How many damn Kerkman’s have government jobs? Sounds almost like the Morrissey’s in the city Bagdala’s. Need to hear more about these families reaping the rewards of higher paying jobs & benefits. Especially the ones without qualification’s.

  14. I’m so glad for Mr. Jackson. I remember you posting this story back when the restraining order was put into effect, and then you removed it, which made me think there might have been some kind of gag order. Is the old son of Mussolini going to reimburse the village with all his assets for the money the taxpayers will have to cover?

  15. Really ashamed of my town. Been here for 28 years and never experienced this. I would clearly welcome this family as my neighbors and can also say that I have questioned some building permits granted that appeared against code and never received follow up from Mr Kerkman. I do know personally at least one board member and he is a standup guy. Can’t say much about the rest. Looking forward to seeing this family get their new home soon!

    2
    2
  16. Well now, while the racist comments should never be tolerated, pulling your race out for every other perceived injustice is common practice for the Jacksons. Their attitude is I can’t be wrong therefore you are a racist.

    7
    5
        1. Ohhh you mean the paperwork and videos. Sorry that stuff is not made up. Cameras don’t lie! Didn’t mean to hurt ya feelings. Do like the village president and call the cops on me when I say something that you don’t agree with. Then go on my page and watch that video too. Ain’t no fun when the rabbit got the gun!!!!

  17. RECALL!!! Start a grassroot group, start a recall petition, find good candidates, start canvassing neighborhoods and elect new government for Bristol..or at least prepare for the next election. Sounds like a bunch or corrupt, irresponsible, and racist people in charge!!!

    1. The spring election is just around the corner.
      Petitions due in January.
      Primary in February.
      Main election in April.

Just need to rustle up a candidate.

      Mr. Jackson could consider running.

  18. The Jackson’s are an incredible family. Calling them out for pulling the “race card” is beyond ridiculous! I’ve been great friends with them for years. For all you biased, race baiting haters out there, put this in your pipe and smoke it – I’m white and a retired cop! Black people supposedly hate both right? Amazing this garbage is going on and especially at a village administration level. The facts are the facts. The body cam footage in itself is undeniable evidence of bias toward them. The Village of Bristol administration has dug a deep hole for themselves, for their unethical path they’ve gone down. Unfortunately, their antics and extremely poor decisions are most likely going to cost taxpayers dearly. So taxpayers, remember all this nonsense at election time and vote these ass clowns out of office. Godspeed to the Jacksons, for no family should ever have to endure this.

    1. Patriot cop……… well that was the mic drop to conclude this comment section! Well put, the village let the administrator dig them in a while that no one can talk themselves out of. That idiot is on body cam admitting that he told someone to break the law and that he’ll call DA office and take care of it!!!!! He is a liability!!!! Those insurance rates are about to skyrocket!!
