Winston, who did not testify in his own defense, had his bond revoked following the verdict and is now awaiting sentencing. Former Cop Charged With Armed Bank Robbery, Bomb Threat – $250,000 Cash Bail
You’ve all seen it in the movies – the bad guy calls in a fake police call and robs a bank. All the police officers will be at the fake call and you can get away scot free, right? Not so fast, says Pleasant Prairie Police Chief David Smetana. “It doesn’t work.” Today, 51-year old former cop Paul J. Man Shot By Rittenhouse Was Legally Carrying A Gun On August 25, 2020 Despite Years Of Inaccurate Reports
For almost four years, media sources, like KCE, have been reporting false information about Paul Prediger. Paul Prediger, formerly known as Gaige Grosskreutz, was shot by Kyle Rittenhouse on August 25, 2020 during the Kenosha riots. Prediger had a valid concealed carry license on August 20, 2020. He thought that police and prosecutors would know that. He was wrong. Kenosha Police Detective Benjamin Antaramian, who was the lead detective on the Rittenhouse case, told Prediger that he did not have a valid CCW license on August 25, 2020 – so did Binger. Grosskreutz was told by Kenosha prosecutor T. Clair Binger that his license had expired due to non-payment of the renewal fee. Prediger, trusting Binger and Antaramian, testified under oath that his concealed carry license wasn’t valid on the

Felix Garcia has defeated the embattled Andy Berg (D) in the 10th County Board District, a recount has found. On April, 2, 2024, newcomer, Felix Garcia, defeated Berg in the Spring election. Since the vote was so close, Berg requested a recount that occurred this morning at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol, WI. “I’m so relieved,” said Garcia. “I want to thank the voters for choosing me to represent them. I also want to thank God and Jesus Christ.” Garcia, a security contractor, is married to his wife Natalia and has two boys, one and three. The Garcia family also have two Italian Mastiffs, a boy named Boaz and a girl named Ruth. Garcia’s mother Rebecca was also present at the recount Friday morning. KCE got a chance to

KCE Wins Public Records Lawsuit Against Embattled County Board Member
Kenosha County Board Member Andy Berg (D) must make available for inspection a large amount of county park maps and business cards that he was illegally distributing during his Spring, 2024 election. This is according to a ruling handed down today by Judge Frank Gagliardi. Gagliardi also ordered Berg to pay Mathewson’s legal fees, in the amount of $309.50. Mathewson further petitioned Gagliardi to sign an order stating that Berg violated Wis. Stats § 19.31 and 19.37 and that Mathewson was entitled to physically inspect the records. Gagliardi agreed to sign this order. A local civil attorney, Eric Olson, of Olson and Olson Attorneys, who was following this case, said that Gagliardi’s ruling was “spot on.” “In this case, the Judge followed the law to a tee,” said Olson. “Although

Kenosha Judge Raises Chrystul Kizer’s Bail To $750,000, Orders Separate Trials
Both the prosecution and the defense scored small wins in court today, in reference to the Chrystul Kizer case. Chrystul Kizer is charged for allegedly shooting her sex trafficker, Randall Volar III on June 5, 2018 twice in the head, burning down his house, and stealing his car. He was being investigated at the time for serious crimes including sexual assault of children and child pornography. The Kenosha DA did not charge him with a crime. We told you how Mike Graveley’s office was responsible, in part, for Volar’s death by dragging its feet with the investigation after Kenosha Police recommended many felonies and had mountains of evidence against him. Kizer was initially given a $1,000,000 bail, but Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge David Wilk lowered the bail down to $400,000 on

Drunk-Driving English Teacher Sues Kenosha Unified School District To Conceal Disciplinary Records
A 41-year-old English teacher at Tremper High School in Kenosha is suing his employer, the Kenosha Unified School District, in Kenosha County Circuit Court. In the lawsuit filed on April 1, 2024, Mark P. Wisniewski lists an address in Kenosha where he resides – but in truth, he resides at the Kenosha County Jail. That’s because Wisniewski is serving a 6-month jail sentence for his third OWI conviction. Alarming to parents of Tremper students, KUSD allows Wisniewski to commute between Tremper high School and the jail to teach, ankle monitor in tow. Wisniewski led Kenosha Police on a one-mile chase with a blood alcohol content of .300 – almost four times the legal limit. He told police he didn’t stop because he “didn’t have insurance.” This wasn’t his first OWI.

Racism Causes Village Of Bristol To Take Family To Court, Possibly Halting Construction of “Dream Home”
Quentin Jackson and his wife Christine, have worked hard hard their entire lives. They both wanted a slice of the American Dream. Jackson and his family found and purchased a beautiful 5-acre lot in Bristol. Plans were underway to build their dream house. They would soon find however, that in Bristol, a Village Administrator named Randy Kerkman ruled the small village with an iron fist and all of his decisions were rubber-stamped by the Village Board. Other business owners and prospective business owners told KCE the same thing – Kerkman makes it difficult or impossible for people to do business in Bristol. Kerkman acted with impunity. He would pepper the Jackson family with red tape at every turn. Still, the Jackson family got permits and paid a substantial amount of

“I’m hearing that Peter Barca is considering running against Bryan Steil. That would be a mistake.” —Kenosha County Sheriff, David W. Zoerner
Kenosha County Sheriff David W. Zoerner (R) didn’t mince words today during a video message to residents about Peter Barca’s recent announcement of a congressional bid. “I’m hearing that [Barca] is considering running against Bryan Steil,” said Zoerner. “That would be a mistake.” Sheriff Zoerner, who just returned to Kenosha County after a brief trip to the southern border, was joined by other local Sheriffs. Zoerner said that he went to the Mexico/USA border “to witness the crisis that’s affecting our community firsthand.” Zoerner continued, “Folks, in 2016 Peter Barca, he fought hard to defeat a bill that would ban sanctuary cities in Wisconsin. Sanctuary cities threaten the safety of our community. Peter Barca’s out-of-touch position means he doesn’t take the safety of our community seriously. Your kids and mine.”

Man Charged With Serious Felonies After DNA Exonerates Girlfriend Who He Let Take The Fall For Almost A Year
A 20-year-old Illinois man, who was charged last month for two serious felonies and one misdemeanor, is facing more than 20 years in the Wisconsin Prison System if convicted. Elijah J. Schoffstall was charged on March 15, 2024 with Felony Injury By Intoxicated Use Of A Vehicle, Felony Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Misdemeanor Obstructing an Officer. According to court documents, the charges stem from a May 20, 2023 incident in which Schoffstall drove drunk and almost killed himself and his then-girlfriend, Marissa Chon. On May 19, 2023, Chon and Schoffstall, both adults, but under 21 at the time, were doing what many college students do on a Friday night – drinking alcohol with friends. At about 2:21 am, the two were involved in a serious car wreck at

Three Guns Recovered and One in Custody after Gas Station Shooting
On Wednesday, 04/03/24, at 6:28 P.M., the Kenosha Police Department received a call from Mian’s Gas, located at 5006-60th Street. A group of individuals were fighting in the store when a single gunshot was fired. One person was treated by Kenosha Fire Department Rescue Personnel for a non-life-threatening injury. Information was quickly obtained regarding a black Jeep that fled the business. Patrol Officers immediately responded and located the Jeep a few blocks away. The Jeep was occupied by four individuals ranging from 25 – 29 years old. All were detained, and a loaded firearm was located in the Jeep. Further investigation led officers to a house in the 5800 block of 50th Avenue, where two more individuals were located. A search warrant of that residence yielded the recovery of two more firearms.

Bristol Votes “No!” on School Referendum and Votes “Yes!” to Gray and Starke for School Board
Last night was an embarrassing loss for the “Bristol Votes Yes” group and Bristol School Administrator, Jack Musha, after failing to convince voters to vote “yes” for an operating referendum for the second year in a row. In contrast, it was a decisive victory for school board candidates, Joanne Gray and Nicole Starke. Current board member, Tina Elfering, the only board member to vote against going to referendum this year, said, “Congratulations to Joanne and Nicole on their win. They will do great things for the Bristol community and school. I look forward to working with both of them.” The referendum was previously discussed in depth here: The decision by incumbent Board President Adam Scheele and Vice-president Corie Bies not to seek reelection appears prudent in hindsight, given yesterday’s rejection of

Bogdala Wins Kenosha Mayor: City Election Roundup
In a decisive victory, David Bogdala (R) defeated Lydia Spottswood in the mayoral race on Tuesday evening in Kenosha. All votes have been counted, with Bogdala securing 53% with 9051 votes, over Spottswood’s 46.6% and 7960 votes. Bogdala has served as District 17 Alderman for the past 15 years. Spottswood was also a former Alderwoman, and was defeated in a Congressional race by Paul Ryan in the 1990’s. Bogdala said, “I’m very humbled and honored to be Kenosha’s next mayor. I understand and appreciate the challenges ahead of us. As I have for the past 16 years as alderman, I will continue to represent every person in Kenosha. I also want to congratulate the new City Council members and looking forward to working with all of you!” Bogdala was endorsed

Kenosha Unified School Board Stays Under Democrats’ Control
After the votes were counted, the KUSD school board will remain under solid liberal control with a 5-2 majority. The Wisconsin Democrat party’s $136,000 paid dividends in this election. Here are the vote counts: As KCE predicted, almost 3,500 people voted for a mentally ill candidate, Angela Cassity, who ran around her neighborhood naked, that wasn’t seaking election. Perhaps the voters in Kenosha aren’t as informed as they should be. Democrats Marry Modder and Todd Price will keep their seats, and new-comer, Sabrina Landry, who married a man convicted of sexual assault, will join the board. Newcomer Bob Tierney also joins the board. Tierney had the following to say to KCE Tuesday evening: “I worked very hard and made it a point during my campaign to listen to all sides.

Kenosha County Board To Look Very Different – Election Results

Here are the results of the contested races: District 2 – Incumbent Terry Rose defeated by Stephanie Knez, a science teacher. District 3 – Incumbent Jeffrey Gentz holds on to seat by 8 votes against challenger Annette Flynn. District 5 – Incumbent Brian Thomas easily retains seat by challenger David Arrington. Arrington was upset Tuesday night and had “no comment.” District 6 – Andres Gama defeats Duane O’Keefe by 19 votes in open seat. District 8 – Incumbent Zach Rodriguez loses seat to Sarah Kirby by 21 votes. District 9 – Former Police Chief and Current City of Kenosha Administrator John Morrissey ran unopposed.“I am looking forward to working with my fellow county board members and

Commissioner Heather Iverson Wins Judge Race
The results are in and Commissioner Heather Iverson has been elected to Kenosha County Circuit Court’s third branch. Tears of joy fell to the ground as Iverson celebrated with her husband, children, friends and family at Ruffalos 2. Judge-Elect Iverson spoke briefly with KCE Tuesday night. “I want to say thank you to everyone who voted for me in this election. I am filled with gratitude for your support. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all those who supported my campaign and believed in my ability to serve our community with fairness and honesty. Your support means the world to me. I also want to thank my family, especially my husband and children for always showing their support and love and for being my biggest cheerleaders. I thank my campaign

Hoping For The Best But Preparing For the Worst, Village of Salem Lakes Announces Plan For Potential Flooding
Salem Lakes Village Administrator Cassandra Hiller is hoping that the possible flooding that is being forecasted doesn’t happen. She isn’t, however, leaving anything to chance. Today, Hiller announced that Village staff are currently working with Kenosha County to make sand and sandbags available at the Wilmot Pit and in Silver Lake at the Fire Station. “Kenosha County is loading sand now and has sand and unfilled bags ready to go,” said Hiller Tuesday Afternoon. Residents will need to bring their own shovels and load the bags themselves. The Fox River near New Munster is currently under a flood warning and is expected to crest on Thursday at potentially a major flood stage. From Accuweather: https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/silver-lake/53170/weather-warnings/2249246?alertId=2636597&areaId=kenosha At 13.8 feet, Floodwaters are into the lower levels of some homes in the Town of Wheatland

KCE Kenosha County Voting Guide
My opinion is no more important than anybody reading this. However, since I am known for knowing about politicians in this county by my constant investigations, inquiries and awareness, I am often asked who to vote for, so here it is! I did not include the bid for Kenosha mayor on this list, because asking who to vote for is like asking which eyeball to gouge out with a hot poker – there is no right or wrong choice for this race. See you at the polls! Kevin Mathewson

Democrat Party Of Wisconsin Spent $136,000 On Liberal Kenosha School Board Candidates – Vote Against Them: Opinion
This Tuesday, voters from Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, and Somers will select four new school board members. This is a very important election – one that will determine the path forward for KUSD. If the liberals retain control of the board, voters can expect referendums and higher taxes. They can also expect racy and pornographic books to stay in the schools’ libraries. They can expect much of the same “woke” policies that take parents out of the equations. Legally, school board elections in Wisconsin are non-partisan. A lot of people are confused on what that means. It means only that candidates need not declare a political party. That’s it. It doesn’t mean that conservatives can’t act conservatively or liberals can’t act liberally. The democrats are usually the party that yells, “Hey!

Something Stinks Again in Pleasant Prairie: Opinion
With more of the same-old-same-old taking place right under our noses, Pleasant Prairie residents are being gaslighted again into believing that Village President John Steinbrink, Sr. has their best interests in mind, not his own. The preliminary plat for a 700+ unit high-density housing development just west of Village Green Heights, between 93rd and 104th Streets, was approved last week in a vote of 4-1. Trustee Jim Kremer was the only opposing vote, citing concerns raised by residents about the density, lack of green space, lot sizes, the impact on existing property values, increased traffic, and a possible fiscal burden on local taxpayers to redevelop 104th Street (Hwy 165). Steinbrink, Sr. was noticeably absent from last week’s meeting, evading public criticism of the Highland Estates project. It just so happens

For A Safer Kenosha County, Vote Heather Iverson For Judge on April 2: Opinion
“No justice, no peace! No justice, no peace!” The chant of the crowed rose in crescendo, underscoring the fiery nights of Kenosha’s 2020 riots. Thousands of onlookers, both in person and online, felt a confusing sense of chaotic inner conflict, as heartbreak loomed for our beloved hometown. No one knew exactly what to feel, no one had all the information. Protesters demanded accountability in the pursuit of justice, while law enforcement worked both to keep people safe and protect our First Amendment rights. Paging through Nathan Debruin’s recently published photographic saga, “A Journey into the Days of the Kenosha Unrest,” the images revive a spectrum of emotion that is inexplicable to an outsider, to a person who wasn’t there, to a person who didn’t already call Kenosha home. Crowds with
