Proposed Question to Westosha High School Students

A couple of questions that alarmed many parents of high-schoolers at Westosha High School will not appear in an upcoming survey, according to the district’s administrator. “Those questions are going to be removed [from the survey]… and they won’t be part of any future surveys that we do,” administrator John Gendron told KCE Thursday.

The two questions that seemed to be the subject of the parents’ ire, asked students if they were transgender and what their sexual preferences were. One parent told KCE that she disagreed with the questions because of how personal they are. Others told KCE that the questions shouldn’t be asked to students of any age, for any reason.

John Gendron – Westosha District Administrator

Westosha district administrator John Gendron made himself available to KCE this afternoon to answer our questions. “We admit when we do things wrong and I will be the the first to admit that.” said Gendron. “What we would gain from the survey, we would be losing in trust from our community and families and to me, it’s that’s not even a question, to lose that.”

Gendron told KCE that the district had announced to parents that the survey would be happening and offered to make the questions available to families that wished. About 40 families asked to see the questions. After receiving feedback, Gendron said he then made the decision to remove the questions that sparked the debate.

Although Gendron didn’t develop the questions, he took responsibility, saying “We got the idea – our student services team put it together, but ultimately I’m the superintendent so, you know, things fall with me and I recognize that.”

Gendron told KCE that he takes bullying, safety and the well-being of his students very seriously. He told us about a service that the school utilizes called “Speak Up – Speak Out” that is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Justice. On this website, students can report anything they want anonymously – if they are bullied, they have a concern about a friend or a number of reasons. All Kenosha County Schools participate on this website too – there is also an app.

After learning of the news of the decision to remove the questions, one Westosha Mom told KCE that she was very happy to hear that the district listened to the parents and took action based on the feedback.

“I’m happy that the district listened to the community. That’s not something you see every day in government.”

  1. An idiot for not having examined that questionnaire at the start. Know sone of your counselors and teachers are woke, socialists, who graduated from the Marxist UW system! Be aware, be vigilant!!

  2. Well the questions aren’t necessarily horrible or evil, they are stupid in the context of simply asking students to check a box. You have no idea if the information sent in would be accurate or not, and I really don’t care in the long run, because there shouldn’t be anything the school is planning on doing based on the information (which they don’t know if it’s truthful or not) since schools should get back to teaching basics. For people who aren’t sure what basics are, they are the classes that our country seems to be seven or eight years behind other countries reaches the age of 18. 😝

    1. What were they going to do with the information ??

Decide if they needed to add a particular class ?
Then how many ? Male to female ? Female to male ?
Female to non binary ? Male to non binary ?
And so on and so on and so on and ……….

While Gendron is just one person and is taking responsibility, as he should , wouldn’t you think this should have gone before the board before it went to the preview parents ? That’s on Gendron too !

We elect the board to set policy and sign off on major decisions. Didn’t this qualify ?

Gendron seems competent. He just got done overseeing a 40 million dollar renovation of the school. But again.
Why was this question proposed and to what end ?

      1. Well, if this were Indian Trail, I’d say that they are going to share the information with staff so that they can select students and match them with each staff member’s specific sexual proclivities.

        1. The other schools just haven’t gotten caught yet…that’s okay…KCE will eventually expose them all! Thanks Kevin!

          1. It’s strange that all the cases you hear of Teachers grooming or molesting kids comes from a KUSD school. Maybe that’s why KUSD has so many kids open enrolling to Westosha Central?

  3. I predict that KCE will be reporting inappropriate staff/ behavior
at this school in the not too distant future.

    5
    3
  4. Much better reaction than what KUSD would do. By KUSD actions then don’t care what the parents and tax payer think.

  5. No mention on if these surveys were anonymous or optional. If both of these apply, I see no problem with it.

  6. These surveys are intrusive and should never be given to students. This has been going on for years and 99.9% of parents are not aware of the insidiousness of the questions.

  7. So it seems that a committee proposed this as part of a larger survey and Gendron rubber-stamped it. When there was uproar from the parents/taxpayers of the district and school, he realized these questions were unnecessary and had them removed while also accepting the blame for the oversight. That seems to be the correct way to do things when a mistake is made. Other districts would have doubled down and taken this ridiculous idea to court and fought the tax payers.

    1. Parents – keep Gendron’s feet to the fire. This bullshit has to stop at some point. This is a small “win” in favor of parents who send their kids to school each day, trusting that “the system” is going to provide a basic classical education, rather than radical activist grooming.

  8. Just more proof that liberalism is a mental disease.
Get this shit out of our schools as it is totally inappropriate. Put a microscope on the people who
are on the Student Services Team and responsible for creating that survey. Also, for God’s sake,
research past student activities organized by this so-called Student Services Team—what other inappropriate
things have they done, said, or written??

    8

    1. https://www.westosha.k12.wi.us

      There is the school website.
      Or go in person.
      Takes five minutes.
Ask for the information you want
Request all records and emails that pertain to the
      Student Services Team
It will take a few days but by law they will give you everything you ask.
Help Kevin out here. Do a little leg work and research and then either post it here or send it directly to Kevin.

      1. Maybe we should contact more schools and see if they have these questions being asked to students. I’m sure they are but what school would admit to it or even give you that information if you asked? We KNOW Westosha has the questions so we can persue that but how do we request documents that would give us the information from other schools? Is that a Public Records Request and how would you word it to get that specific information?

  9. The Director of Student Services at Westosha is Lauren Spierenburg 262-843-2321 ext 257

Student Services Asst is Sheree Pfeuffer at ext 227

    1. I would have expected hyphenated sir names for the people holding those positions.

I bet they have their pronouns listed in their e-mail signatures.

  10. I really want to know if there is a GSA (Gay and Straight Alluance)Club established at either Westosha or Wilmot HS. This is where more real perverted ideas and activities are created in these schools.
