      1. He was never a priest, I do acknowledge there are pedophiles in every religion it is absolutely not limited to the Catholic Church. All pedophiles should be held accountable regardless of their religious ties.

        1. While pedophilia is definitely among all walks of life, the catholic religion has more. Not only the priests, but the nuns as well. There’s a documentary on it, when the Washington Post 1st broke the case. At the end, they roll the credits off all churches involved in the cover-ups. They’re all over the US.

      2. He’s not a priest. He’s not even Catholic. I used to work at the YMCA and he would regularly tell me how terrible it was, that I am Catholic.

    2. So the thumbs down condone the support letters for this pedophile???? Be a little more offended than that rather than a “liberal” comment…..it speaks volumes!!!

  2. Mr. DeBerge did grow up in an upstanding Catholic family. I recall seeing him years ago carrying a cross and preaching outside Washington Jr. High. I encountered him twice while a visiting teacher in KUSD. Both times he was wearing military fatigues. He was a substitute teacher. He held a pointer across his chest and began lecturing to the second grade class: “Let me explain to you all my methods”. I thought he was giving the message he would beat them with the pointer. The second time was a Lincoln Grade School. Part of my class was provided Early Head Start children with a taste of food. I asked the children to raise their hands if they needed help opening containers. . De Berge began to mock me. I feel Unified does an inadequate job of vetting subs and doesn’t check up on them while they are teaching. If you had contact with him you realize something is “off”. If memory serves me. he married a woman from a foreign country when he was older. I believe she had a small child. I think the Kenosha News ran a story about his marriage. He claimed he was pure and had remained a virgin. This poor unsuspecting woman was “easy pickings”.

  3. Let’s hope this judge does right by us and puts this pos away forever…if not remember …judges are ELECTED officials..

    1. Well she was sitting with Gravely and was his right hand at the DA’s office during the Jacob Blake BS, until she ran for the Judicial seat! That should tell you all you need to know!

  4. Let’s hope this judge does right by us and puts this pos away forever…if not remember …judges are ELECTED officials..

  5. I was in the jury pool, thankfully not selected for the case. Too bad you weren’t there Kevin, David Beth was also called to jury duty and in the pool, although not selected. Both the states atty and defense attorneys said there was no lab or physical evidence, there would only be testimony to the accusations. But you could feel the air go out of the room when they said it would be a child sex abuse case.

    1. I was in that exact same situation many years ago. Luckily for me, there was an excellent judge and assistant district attorney prosecuting it. The judge made sure nothing got out of hand in any way and the prosecution laid out the best case they could without the benefit of any lab work, just a hospital examination. I’m not in a hurry to ever do it again, but I had no problems with doing it right.

  6. I remember him subbing in a classroom next to mine at KUSD. He gave me the creeps! As someone stated above, there was something “off” about him. This 100% does NOT surprise me!! KUSD and the teaching profession, in general, are struggling to find teachers that want to put up with poor pay, entitled kids, shitty parents and no support from the administration.

  7. He was so creepy and I always sensed something. He was at a funeral I attended a couple years ago. I was at the funeral dinner with a friend and he sat down right next to me. I had no idea who he was but he just was extremely odd. I felt uncomfortable. Soon enough at the table he would start weird conversation. He started to grab over me to grab “salt” multiple times and would slightly hit my breasts (I was 18)with his fore arm. He then kept turning his head staring at me up and down. I felt really grossed out and my friend noticed to. After that I told her let’s get up and move and we did. He then followed us to try and continue to speak to me. I just couldn’t forget how weird he was I told my friend “ no offense but he seems like he’d be a pedophile”. And soon enough he was. I hope he goes to hell.
